Please do not ship parts without ASNs. The delays
in processing manual receipts within Spirit are longer
than the two hours you would wait for a usable
PO line. Please read the following for a better understanding
of the new processes. If you have any questions,
contact your Procurement Agent.
1. Min/Max PO lines are enabled for ASNs if the
total inventory is less than the maximum target
value.
2. Discrete POs lines are enabled for ASNs if the
current date is equal to or less than schedule delivery
date minus 11 days.
3. This process does not affect suppliers who create
and transmit their ASNs via VAN EDI or flat
files; only HOM suppliers are affected. However,
suppliers sending automated ASNs are expected
to abide by all of the same requirements.
4. All foreign suppliers, raw material suppliers, and
787 PMI Only suppliers are excluded from most
of the ASN disable process within ESIS HOM.
ASNs will be limited to the lesser of the Min/Max
balance or balance open of the PO line.
5. For Min/Max orders the ASN disable process will
allow the supplier to create an ASN for the lesser
of the PO item ‘to go’ quantity or the difference
between the current inventory value and the max
value. This is to prevent griefs where the ‘to go’
quantity left on the PO item does not support allowing
the supplier to ship to the max quantity.
In this case, you are probably near the end of
the contract or end of the year, and you should
already have another PO or PO line available. If
so, please use it.
6. There are certain ways a Procurement Agent
could inadvertently set up a PO line that will disable
the ASN. If you believe your ASN was disabled
in error, please contact your Procurement
Agent. For example, if it is a Min/Max part with
Enhancements to Disable ASN
multiple schedules on the line, it will be disabled.
Your Procurement Agent may have to revise the
PO to enable the ASN.
7. If a Min/Max part number has had a spares (discrete)
shipment within the last 14 calendar days,
it will be enabled for an open balance on the PO
line.
8. If a receipt correction or a change order re-installs
an open balance to a previously closed line, the
PO line will be available for ASNs the day after
the change activity. If a change order revises a
quantity or schedule of an open line, it also will
be available for the revised quantity or schedule
on the day after the change order.
9. Change orders adding new lines are effective for
ASNs immediately upon arrival at ESIS.
10. The Disable ASN updates are sent to ESIS at
about 6:00 a.m. CDT each day. If you believe a
PO line was closed in error (in conflict with the
inventory worksheet), please log off ESIS HOM
and then log back on. Their system may just
need to refresh. Staying logged onto ESIS overnight
does not allow your account data to refresh.
11. A note on the ESIS HOM screen (in blue) identifies
reasons your ASN may fail or may appear
in one of the disabled boxes. The note by itself
does not mean your PO is not available for ASN.
Only when the PO line appears in a disabled box
is it actually disabled.

Supply Chain Management
6 Supplier Communication | October / November 2009 | Issue 117
Effective January 26, 2009, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) implemented the Importer Security
Filing and Additional Carrier Requirements rule. Under this rule, an Importer Security Filing (ISF) must
be completed and filed with U.S. Customs for all ocean cargo prior to the loading of the goods onto the
vessel at the foreign port of lading/export.
The flexible enforcement period for the ISF will expire January 25, 2010, and at that time, failure to comply
with the new rule could ultimately result in monetary penalties (liquidated damages in the amount of
$5,000 per violation), increased inspections, and delay of cargo.
While Spirit AeroSystems, Inc. is responsible for filing the ISF (any Incoterm with the exception of DDP),
we are highly dependent on our suppliers to provide us with timely and accurate shipment data. In February
