A Message from Our VP
Charles W. “Charlie” McKinny is Vice President-Supply Chain Management for Spirit
AeroSystems. He was named to this position in July 2009.
Mr. McKinny came to Spirit in 2006 as a project executive for SAP implementation. He
served as Chief Information Officer and was a government contracting project executive
prior to assuming the role of Vice President-Supply Chain Management.
Mr. McKinny was director of Industrial Engineering (1990-1994) and director of Manufacturing
Services (1994-1995) at Boeing. In 1995 he was named director of Airplane
Initiatives for the Wichita Division of Boeing Commercial Airplanes. He was director of
Lean Manufacturing for Boeing Commercial Airplanes (1997-1999) prior to working as
a consultant for KPMG Consulting and CW McKinny Consulting.
At Boeing, he served on a variety of commercial and military projects including the 757
first flight team, 737-300 wing, B-1B initial final assembly, B-2 rollout and the Wichita
Air Force One team. His responsibilities included the 777 program start-up in Wichita
and the implementation of Manufacturing Resource Management at BCA Wichita Division.
Mr. McKinny holds a bachelor of arts in secondary education from Pacific Lutheran
University. He is a 1994 graduate of the Columbia University Program in International
Business Management. He received Kaizen Certification from Shingijutsu Ltd. of Japan
in 1996 and Primavera Project Management Certification in 1999. He is a member
of the Association for Operations Management (APICS).
His community activities include leadership of the Appalachia Service Project and support
of the Salvation Army’s Development Committee.

Have You Heard?
Attention Vendor Owned Inventory (VOI) Suppliers: VOI Reconciliation Report
The Supplier VOI Reconciliation report is now available on the SPN. This report provides visibility to the supplier
on their VOI receipts, inventory, issues and payments. Suppliers can also search transactions by part
number or check number to assist in their reconciliation process.
The report has been available since 9/28/09 and instructions are posted at this location: Tipsheets>SPN
Reports Tipsheets>VOI Reconciliation Instructions. The Tipsheets link can be found on the left sidebar of the
SPN homepage. For suppliers using automated processes to pull data, please note that the title for the report
now reads “Vendor Owned Inventory” instead of “Consignment.” If you have further questions, please contact
your Spirit procurement agent.
Engineering Drawings
Each Spirit AeroSystems, Inc. Purchase Order covering Build to Print parts or assemblies contains the verbiage
‘Complete per engineering drawing and latest SSP/ZSP’. This note is to ensure that all suppliers manufacture
all parts and assemblies per the latest engineering drawing. Suppliers should not build or modify per
