(2)
The MLG is sheared or partially sheared from its support structure.
E.
If the MLG is intact and the MLG beam is undamaged, a sling or straps can be used to lift from where the MLG Trunnion joins the MLG Beam (see Figure 3-61).
NOTE: DO AN INSPECTION OF THE MLG AND ITS SUPPORTING STRUCTURE TO MAKE SURE THAT THE FORWARD AND AFT TRUNNION CONNECT POINTS TO THE WING SPAR AND THE MLG BEAM, RESPECTIVELY, HAVE NOT BEEN DAMAGED BEFORE LIFTING WITH THE SLING OR STRAPS. ANY SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE TO THESE INTERFACES WILL MAKE IT UNSAFE TO LIFT THE AIRPLANE USING THIS LIFTING METHOD. SEE ALTERNATE LIFTING METHOD WHEN FORWARD AND/OR AFT TRUNNION CONNECT INTERFACES ARE DAMAGED (SEE Figure 3-64).
(1)
The procedure that follows applies to both the left and right MLG.
(2)
Remove the wing skin panels in the area above the main landing gear. Remove items in this area that prevent the necessary clearance. These items can be electrical wires or hydraulic lines. They can also be a part of the airplane secondary structure.
(3)
If the MLG is folded, secure the MLG to the airplane to prevent it from rotating when the airplane is lifted.
NOTE: DO NOT ALLOW THE MLG TO ROTATE AT ANYTIME WHEN THE SLING OR STRAP HOIST EQUIPMENT IS UNDER LOAD, BETWEEN THE AIRPLANE AND CRANE. ROTATION OF THE MLG WHILE THE EQUIPMENT IS LOADED, COULD DAMAGE THE TRUNNION SURFACE.

(4)
Install the sling and hoist equipment (see Figure 3-61), making sure that you have no interference between the slings and any airplane components. Sling surface must not bear against the MLG beam during airplane lifting.
(5)
Be careful when you lift the airplane. Make sure that you keep the airplane level and that you prevent a sudden movement of airplane loads. You must have a system that permits each person to speak with the other persons. This permits all three cranes to operate together. Tighten all the slings and cables before you start to lift the airplane. Start to lift the airplane slowly.
(6)
Stop regularly to examine the slings and the airplane attitude. Make the airplane level if it is necessary. When the airplane is at a satisfactory height, move it down to the necessary surface. The surface can be landing gears, jacks, supports (cribs) or trailers.
F.
The airplane may also be lifted from the MLG trunnion, if the trunnion is undamaged, by using a sling or strap wrapped around the trunnion. Sling (B8E120) and shackle G2140 (2 1/2) may be used. If the gear is extended wrap the sling around the MLG trunnion (see Figure 3-62). If the gear is retracted, wrap the sling around the trunnion and the outer cylinder (see Figure 3-63).
