B.  Unlock the door as follows:
CAUTION:  IF YOU USE A POWER TOOL TO OPEN THE CARGO DOOR, DO NOT TORQUE MORE THAN 225 POUND-INCHES (260 KG-CM) AND DO NOT TURN FASTER THAN 500 RPM. TOO MUCH TORQUE ON THE CARGO DOOR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
(1)  Pull the external (or inner) latch handle to release the door. Move the handle to the full travel position. The external handle is a horizontal lever in a recess below the surface of the cargo door. The pivot point of the handle is the forward end. You must push a coverplate to get access to the aft end of the handle. A spring holds the handle in the fully open or the fully closed position.
An internal lever opens the door only when you pull the inner handle. This lever is controlled by a tension spring and it engages a cam on the handle shaft.
NOTE: THE EXTERIOR HANDLE MOVES DOWN APPROXIMATELY 105 DEGREES.

(1)  
Put a 3/8-inch drive speed wrench or power tool into the manual drive socket (see Figure 2-20) and turn the wrench counterclockwise until the overtravel stops are touched (approximately 600 turns).

NOTE:  A SUDDEN INCREASE IN TORQUE IS AN INDICATION THAT THE OVERTRAVEL STOPS ARE TOUCHED.

(2)  
Remove the speed wrench or power tool.


WARNING: DO NOT OPERATE THE DOOR OR LET THE DOOR STAY OPEN IN WINDS MORE THAN 75 MPH, 65 KNOTS OR 120 KM/HOUR. INJURIES TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.
D.  To close the cargo doors manually follow these procedures:
(1)  Put a 3/8-inch drive speed wrench or power tool into the manual drive socket (see Figure 2-20) and turn the wrench clockwise until the overtravel stops are touched (approximately 600 turns).
CAUTION:  DO NOT PUT TOO MUCH FORCE ON THE DOOR HANDLE. THE MAXIMUM EXTERNAL HANDLE LOAD IS 167 POUNDS (76 KG) MEASURED AT ONE INCH FROM THE HANDLE END. TOO MUCH FORCE ON THE DOOR HANDLE CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE CARGO DOOR.
(2)  
Remove the speed wrench or power tool from the manual drive socket.

(3)  
Push in the external handle to close and latch the door. Move the handle from the full travel position to its latched position.


WARNING: DO NOT OPERATE THE DOOR OR LET THE DOOR STAY OPEN IN WINDS MORE THAN 75 MPH, 65 KNOTS OR 120 KM/HOUR. INJURIES TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.
5.  Use the following procedure to open the No. 1 and No. 2 cargo doors, if they cannot be opened electrically or manually.
WARNING: IF YOU REMOVE THE ACCESS PANEL, MAKE SURE THAT YOU REPLACE THE TAPE (PERMACEL, NO. 32). THE TAPE MUST COVER THE JOINT BETWEEN THE ACCESS PANEL AND THE AIRPLANE STRUCTURE, THE TAPE MUST COVER ALL RELATED FASTENERS. THE TAPE IS NECESSARY TO CONTAIN SMOKE IN THE CARGO COMPARTMENT WHICH COULD OCCUR AS A RESULT OF A FIRE.
A.  On airplanes with access panels, pull back the carpet on the passenger floor above the cargo door to get access to the access panels (see Figure 2-21).
