2-40-5 ACE Telescoping Cargo Module System
1.
An optional cargo system (ACE telescoping module system) is available on the 757 airplane (see Figure 2-29). This system can be installed in the two compartments (forward and aft).

2.
The system has four tracks that are installed on the compartment floor and two tracks on each sidewall. There are guide rollers attached to the modules that move in the tracks. A power unit (reversible motor) energizes the modules through a screw drive shaft installed at the rear of the compartment. The modules are controlled by a toggle switch installed on the compartment ceiling.

3.
To put a load of baggage on the airplane with this system, you move all of the modules to the door. When you start, all of the modules are in the same position. You put a load on the top module and then you move it away. Then you put a load on the second module. You do this until all the modules are full.

2-50 DEFUELING 2-50-1 General
1.
Remove the fuel before you lift the airplane to decrease the total load and the risk of a fire. The quantity of fuel can be sufficient to change the CG when the airplane moves to a level attitude. Because the airplane attitude is not level, the removal of the fuel will be different from the usual procedures. More time will also be necessary for the removal. Do not start the removal procedure until you know (from a weight and balance analysis) all the effects on the CG.

2.
There are some recovery operations where the removal of the fuel is not necessary. Make the decision about the removal (or no removal) only after you examine all the effects on the recovery operation. This includes the effect on the jack loads, the CG, the tow loads and the safety of persons.
