Roll the truck assembly forward and aft as necessary to keep the inner cylinder in the center of the outer cylinder as the outer cylinder is lifted.

Provide support for the inner cylinder. Disconnect the shock strut positioner link from the inner cylinder.

Wind a rope around the fork of the inner cylinder. Lift the inner cylinder to release the pressure on the pivot pin for the truck.
