Required pilot certi.cate for operating a foreign-regis-tered aircraft. No person may serve as a required pilot .ight crewmember of a civil aircraft of foreign registry within the United States, unless that person’s pilot certi.cate—

Is in that person’s physical possession, or readily accessible in the aircraft when exercising the privileges of that pilot certi.-cate; and * * * * *

A person may serve as a required pilot .ight crewmember of an aircraft only if that person holds the appropriate medical certi.-cate issued under Part 67 of this chapter, or other documentation acceptable to the FAA, that is in that person’s physical possession or readily accessible in the aircraft. Paragraph (c)(2) of this sec-tion provides certain exceptions to the requirement to hold a med-ical certi.cate.

Is operating an aircraft with a U.S. pilot certi.cate, issued on the basis of a foreign pilot license, issued under §61.75, and holds a medical certi.cate issued by the foreign country that issued the foreign pilot license, which is in that person’s physical possession or readily accessible in the aircraft when exercising the privileges of that airman certi.cate.
(xii) Is a pilot of the U.S. Armed Forces, has an up-to-date U.S. military medical examination, and holds military pilot .ight status. * * * * *

Revise Section 61.11 to read as follows:
§61.11 Expired pilot certi.cates and reissuance.
(a)
No person who holds an expired pilot certi.cate or rating may act as pilot in command or as a required pilot .ight crew-member of an aircraft of the same category or class that is listed on that expired pilot certi.cate or rating.
(b)
The following pilot certi.cates and ratings have expired and will not be reissued:
(1)
An airline transport pilot certi.cate issued before May 1, 1949, or an airline transport pilot certi.cate that contains a horse-power limitation.
(2)
A private or commercial pilot certi.cate issued before July 1, 1945.
(3)
A pilot certi.cate with a lighter-than-air or free-balloon rating issued before July 1, 1945.
(c)
An airline transport pilot certi.cate that was issued after April 30, 1949, and that bears an expiration date but does not con-tain a horsepower limitation, may have that airline transport pilot certi.cate reissued without an expiration date.
(d)
A private or commercial pilot certi.cate that was issued after June 30, 1945, and that bears an expiration date, may have that pilot certi.cate reissued without an expiration date.
(e)
A pilot certi.cate with a lighter-than-air or free-balloon rating that was issued after June 30, 1945, and that bears an expiration date, may have that pilot certi.cate reissued without an expiration date.
