(1)
Extend the flaps fully (Ref. TASK 27-50-00-866-008).
(2)
Make sure that the LOCKING TOOL - FLAP/SLAT CONTROL LEVER is installed on the flap/slat control lever.
(3)
Open the MLG doors (Ref. TASK 32-12-00-010-001).
(4)
Make sure that the GROUND LOCK SLEEVE is installed on the applicable MLG door actuating cylinder.
(5)
Make sure that the aircraft is electrically grounded (Ref. TASK 12-34-24-869-002).

(1) Disconnect the sliding-panel drive-cable, as follows:
(a)
Put the access platform in position below the zone 581(681).
(b)
Remove the screw (2) from the sliding panel and disconnect the drive cable (1) from the drive trunnion of the inboard flap.
(2) Put the spark-proof lamp adjacent to the inspection area.

E. Preparation for Inspection
(1) Use a clean MISCELLANEOUS (Material No. 19-003), made moist with CLEANING AGENTS (Material No. 11-026), to clean the flap trunnion.

DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE RACEWAYS.

DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE INSTALLATIONS.
-MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CABLES ARE INSTALLED CORRECTLY. INCORRECT INSTALLATION CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.

A. Detailed Inspection of Inboard Flap Trunnions (With Protective Half-shells Installed) for Signs of Wear
(1)
For trunnions that have not been repaired and do not have protective half-shells installed refer to work step 4.A.
(2)
For aircraft which have protective half-shells (installed by modification or repair) continue as follows:
(a) Refer to (Ref. ISB 27-1108) and do a detailed inspection of:
-
the trunnion protective half-shells
-
the area adjacent to the half-shells.
