FLIGHT TRAINING PROGRAM TAKES OFF IN CIRRUS SR20
Flight Training Services International trains to meet the need for pilot professionals
Duluth, Minn. (August 31, 2006) Cirrus Design Corporation announced today that the
CAPT (Commercial Airline Pilot Training) program, run by FTSI (Flight Training
Services International), will begin training pilots on technologically advanced
CIRRUS airplanes.
CIRRUS Executive Vice-President of Sales & Marketing John M. Bingham said that
FTSI has taken delivery of the first of 30 SR20 airplanes to immediately begin flight
training. FTSI also has options for an additional 20 CIRRUS aircraft. “CIRRUS is
determined to expand the world of aviation, not only by continuing to create
innovative aircraft but by making them easier to fly,” Bingham said, “This resolve,
partnered with top-level training facilities will produce more qualified pilots in a
market where there is a growing demand. Our partnership with FTSI is a win-win,
not only for our companies but for the industry, as well.”
The CAPT program, located at Flagler County Airport in Palm Coast, Florida, is
committed to training pilots by incorporating the CAPT curriculum with the latest
technology and the highest standard of safety. FTSI President and CEO Shawn
Raker said, “In our opinion, the CIRRUS SR20 is the best trainer on the market today.
We chose CIRRUS aircraft because it met the stringent requirements for the CAPT
program, not only for the innovative technology but for the built-in safety features,
such as the four-point harness restraint, airbags, side-yoke flight controls, advanced

The other day my college alumni magazine arrived. In it are two
items that seemed a trifle bizarre yet are part of a whole. A woman
from the class of 1991 writes that she had experienced a "spiritual
awakening, stopped practicing law and become a shamanic healer."
She founded the San Diego Circle Shamanic Healing Arts Center,
which hosts classes and workshops on many Native American
traditions and shamanic practices. She adds: "I love it. I see people in
my home office, which my kids call the ‘goddess room.'" She says
she finds it "an amazing experience to be a conduit for healing
miracles, especially since I am healing myself in the bargain."
Elsewhere in the magazine I learned of a communal house in Palo
Alto, Calif. called Magic. "As a group," the article says, "the
‘Magicians' value cooperation, healthy living, protecting the
environment and, ultimately, the betterment of mankind."The group's
six adults and two children eschew cars and television, wear
secondhand clothes and eat too-old-to-sell organic food provided by
local markets.
"Some of Magic's rules may seem rigid (a note taped to the house's
sole toilet reads: ‘Gentlemen, please sit to pee or ask someone
where to pee outside'), but after more than two decades of trial and
error, the Magicians believe they know what it takes to maintain an
