(d) Verify nylon tubing extends 0.187” to 0.430” (4.8mm to 10.9mm) past end of olive fitting.
(4) If Inspection indicates compression fitting has been properly installed:
(a) Install new O-Ring.
(b) Assemble compression fitting:
1 Finger tighten compression nut.
2 Tighten compression nut 180° past finger tight.
(c) Proceed to next inspection location.
(5) If Inspection/Check indicates compression fitting has not been properly installed:
(a) Perform Procedure - Compression Fitting Installation.
M. Procedure - Compression Fitting Installation
(1) Acquire necessary tools, equipment, and supplies.
Note: Distribution line may be removed from airplane as necessary to perform olive
clenching.
To avoid spilling anti-ice fluid, flexible tubing routed to a disposal container outside
of aircraft may be used.
(2) Inspect existing olive for cracks or burrs. Signs of burnishing/abrasion on the sealing surface are
typical and acceptable. Replace olive as necessary.
(3) Remove and discard existing O-ring.
(4) Position nut, olive, and nylon tubing to 1/2” threaded elbow tool.
(5) Ensure nylon tubing extends past the olive as far as the threaded elbow tool allows.

CAUTION: Ensure O-ring is removed from compression fitting prior to clenching olive.
(6) Clench olive fitting:
(a) Finger tighten compression nut.
(b) Tighten compression nut:
Note: It is typical for the torque drag to rise rapidly during olive clenching.Torque
fully to the specified value; stopping instantly at the correct torque.
1 New olives: Tighten compression nut 270° past finger tight.
2 Existing olives: Tighten compression nut 180° past finger tight.
(7) Disassemble compression fitting.
(8) Perform Inspection/Check - Compression Fitting to ensure olive fitting has been properly
clenched.
(9) Assemble compression fitting.
Note: The connection to the Main Proportioning Unit and Tail Proportioning Unit may be
left until completion of the System Air Bleed Procedure.
(a) Install new O-Ring.
(b) Finger tighten compression nut.
(c) Tighten compression nut 180° past finger tight.
(10) Proceed to next inspection location.
N. Upon completing inspections and necessary reassembly, perform Procedure - System Air Bleed.
O. Procedure - System Air Bleed
(1) Fill both tanks with approved anti-ice fluid. (Refer to AMM 12-10)
(2) Connect 28 ±1 VDC external power to external power receptacle.
(3) Reset ICE PROTECT A and ICE PROTECT B circuit breakers.
(4) Set BAT1 and AVIONICS switches to ON.
(5) On MFD, use [FMS] knob to select the Engine Page.
(6) Press [ANTI-ICE] MFD softkey.
Note: To avoid spilling anti-ice fluid, flexible tubing routed to a disposal container outside
of aircraft may be used.
(7) Disconnect 5/16" distribution line from the Unequal tee that supplies the Windshield Spray Nozzles.
Direct fluid line into a clean and empty container to capture expelled anti-ice fluid.
Note: It is typical to see a continuous stream of anti-ice fluid for the first few cycles, then
several cycles of air, then several cycles of an anti-ice fluid/air mixture before all
the air is removed.
(8) Remove air from the LH anti-ice tank fluid line.
(a) Press [LEFT] MFD softkey to draw fluid from the LH anti-ice tank.
(b) Press [WIND SHLD] Windshield Push Button to activate the Windshield Pump and remove
the air from the arterial distribution lines.
(c) Continue Windshield Pump operation until there is no evidence of air exiting the 5/16" distribution
line.
