to change CLGS system behavior via a rotary switch to simulate a
variety of landing gear malfunctions.
Seven unique fault modes may be selected using the Fault Select
Rotary Switch. Refer to the Fault Selection Panel table in the System
Operation section for information on fault mode selection.
Warning Horn Push Button
The Warning Horn Push Button, labeled LDG GR SIM ALERT, is
located aft of the power lever and provides the instructor the ability to
manually simulate a gear warning horn when the landing gear is not
extended and:
• the power lever is reduced below a threshold position, i.e.
simulation of a typical power-to-idle gear warning, or
• flaps are extended to landing position, i.e. simulation of a typical
landing configuration gear warning.
Warning Horn
The Warning Horn, located on the LH kick plate above the pilot’s feet,
is a piezo-ceramic audio indicator which, when activated, supplies a
110 dB pulsed warning tone.
Logic Unit
The Logic Unit, located in the center console adjacent to the fuel gage,
provides the logic and timing functions for the Pilot Interface Panel and
Instructor Fault Select Panel to create the behavior of the CLGS
system.

System Operation
Normal Mode - Fault Selection Panel Set To NO FAIL
On initial power-up with the Gear Switch in the UP position the Nose,
Right, and Left LED's will all be Off.
On initial power-up with the Gear Switch in the DOWN position, the
Nose, Right, and Left LED's will all illuminate Green.
When the Gear Switch is moved UP all three LED's will change to Red
indicating the gear is in-transit, remain Red for 5±1 seconds, and then
turn off.
When the Gear Switch is moved DOWN all three LED's will illuminate
Red indicating the gear is in-transit, remain Red for 5±1 seconds and
then turn Green.
If the Gear Switch is toggled during the “gear in-transit” period the
LED's will remain Red, however the system will transition to the newly
selected UP/DOWN state. The transition to the newly selected UP/
DOWN state will take approximately the same amount of time that the
gear had been in-transit when the switch was toggled.
For example;
If the gear is in-transit downward for 4 seconds and the Gear
Switch is then changed to the UP position, the LED's will remain
Red for approximately 4 seconds while the gear is in-transit back
to the UP position.
Pressing and holding the EMER EXT push-button will turn all of the
LED's Red until the EMER EXT push-button has been held for a
cumulative total of 5 seconds, at which time the LED's illuminate
Green.

Failure Mode - Fault Selection Panel Operation
Except in the case of the ALL FAIL mode, fault selection changes are
ignored while the Gear Switch remains in the UP or DOWN position.
The selected fault mode takes effect when the Gear Switch transitions
to its next selected state. ALL FAIL fault selection takes effect
immediately and releases effect when the Fault Mode Switch is
changed to a different selection.
On initial power-up or after the circuit breaker is cycled with a fault
mode selected, the system will return to the existing fault condition
unless the instructor has cleared or changed the fault selection.
For example;
If the system is powered-up with the Gear Switch in the DOWN
position and the DOWN - R fault mode is selected, the Nose and
Left Gear LED's will be Green and the Right Gear LED will be
Red.
The ALL FAIL fault operates differently from the other fault modes by
taking effect immediately upon selection. The ALL FAIL fault causes
the Gear Switch to be ignored, resulting in the previous gear position
and any previously selected fault being locked in. When the ALL FAIL
fault is de-selected the LED's immediately transition to the up or down
state according to the current gear switch position. Any pre-existing
faults will be cleared when the ALL FAIL fault is de-selected.
