(5) Install the flexible hose which connects the fuel
transfer pump to the check valve at the T-piece.
(6) Set the circuit-breaker for the fuel transfer pump. Instrument panel, left side.
(7) Do a test for leaks at the connections for the fuel
transfer pump and related equipment:
S Make sure that there is fuel in the right tank.
S Make sure that the left tank is not more than
half full.
S Set the ELECTRIC MASTER key switch to
ON.
S Set the FUEL TRANS ³ switch to ON.
S Examine the fuel pump and connections for
fuel leaks.
S Set the FUEL TRANS ³ switch to OFF.
S Set the ELECTRIC MASTER key switch to
OFF.

(8) Install the access panel under the fuselage
around the gascolator drain valve.
Refer to Section 52-40.
(9) Install the strut fairing (optional equipment):
S Put the strut fairing in position on the strut.
S Install the bolts, nuts and washers to the
support bracket at the forward bottom side of
the cover.
S Install the bolts, nuts and washers at the
trailing edge.
Take care of the padding on the nose
gear strut.
(10) Refuel the airplane. Refer to Section 12-10.

5. Disassemble/Assemble the Fuel Transfer Pump Assembly
A. Disassemble the Fuel Transfer Pump Assembly
Detail Steps/Work Items Key Items/References
(1) Loosen jam nuts on 90° fittings and remove
fittings from ”in” and ”out” port of the pump.
Note the installation direction of the
fittings.
(2) Remove O-rings from the fittings. Discard O-rings.
(3) Remove the drain fitting. Hold the drain fitting.
(4) Remove lock wire from bolt of pump housing
which holds the bonding cable.
(5) Remove bolt and bonding cable. Hold the bonding cable.
(6) Re-install bolt.
(7) Put caps on the open connections.
B. Assemble a New Fuel Transfer Pump Assembly

(1) Cut electrical wires and crimp connectors onto
the ends.
Length: 24 cm (9.4 in).
(2) Fix pins in the housing and apply appropriate
chafing protection on the wires.
There is no sensitivity to the polarity.
(3) Examine the thread and the conical seats of the
fittings.
(4) Install new O-rings on the fittings.
(5) Remove protective caps from the pump and
install the fittings to the pump ”in” and ”out” ports.
Observe the installation direction of the
fittings.
(6) Tighten the jam nuts.
(7) Install the enclosed new screw on top of the
pump housing.
"Top" means related to the installation in
the airplane.
(8) Install the drain fitting on the bottom side of the
pump housing.

(9) Remove one of the top bolts from the pump
housing.
Remove the lock wire.
"Top" means related to the installation in
the airplane.
(10) Grind housing around the hole where the bolt is
removed.
To get electrical conductivity.
(11) Install bolt together with the bonding cable and
tighten the bolt.
(12) Install new lock wire on the bolts.
(13) Seal the grinded area around bolt of the pump
housing with paint.
To prevent corrosion.

% (1) Remove the RH main landing gear cover on stub wing bottom side
% (2) Remove the rubber gasket on the air duct
% (3) Remove the air duct
% (4) Dis-connect the fuel lines at the fuel cooler
% (5) Open the mounting bolts (4x)

7. Test the Emergency Fuel Valve
CAUTION: YOU MUST REPLACE THE EMERGENCY FUEL VALVE IF THE TEST
FAILS.
