B. Install the GPS Receiver
Detail Steps/Work Items Key Items/References
(1) Remove the protective covers from the
connectors on the replacement unit.
(2) Slide the unit into the rack. Engage the locking
screw so that the latch front-lobe touches the
rack.
(3) Turn the locking screw clockwise so that the rear
lobe engages the mounting rack.
Refer to Figure 1 (KLN 89B), Figure 2
(KLN 94), Figure 3 (MFD 150), Figure 4
(GNS 430), or Figure 5 (GNS 530).
CAUTION: DO NOT OVER-TIGHTEN THE LOCKING SCREW. YOU CAN
DAMAGE THE LOCKING MECHANISM.
(4) Continue to turn the screw until the unit is fully
installed in the mounting rack.
(5) Close the related circuit-breaker(s). GPS circuit breaker for KLN 89B,
KLN 94, and MFD 150.
COM and NAV/GPS circuit breakers for
Garmin GNS 430/530.
(6) Do a test of the GPS. Refer to Paragraph 6.

3. Remove/Install the GPS Annunciation Control Unit
A. Remove the GPS Annunciation Control Unit
Detail Steps/Work Items Key Items/References
(1) Remove the instrument panel cover. Refer to Section 25-10.
(2) Dis-connect the connector from the rear of the
remote GPS annunciation control unit.
(3) Remove the screws which attach the GPS
annunciation control unit to the panel.
Hold the GPS annunciation control unit!
(4) Remove the GPS annunciation control unit from
the panel.
B. Install the GPS Annunciation Control Unit

(1) Put the GPS annunciation control unit in position
in the panel.
(2) Install the screws which attach the GPS
annunciation control unit to the panel.
(3) Connect the connector to the rear of the GPS
annunciation control unit.

(5) Do a test of the GPS. Refer to Paragraph 6.

5. Remove/Install a GPS Antenna
A. Remove a GPS Antenna
Detail Steps/Work Items Key Items/References
(1) Remove the co-pilot's map light. Refer to Section 33-10.
(2) Release the co-axial connector from the antenna.
(3) Release the screws which hold the antenna.
(4) Carefully pull the antenna clear of the fuselage
and hold it.
If necessary, carefully cut the sealant
around the base of the antenna. You
must not damage the fuselage skin.
(5) Move the antenna clear of the airplane.
B. Install a GPS Antenna

(1) Carefully remove any sealant from the area
where the antenna attaches to the fuselage.
(2) Clean the area where the antenna attaches to the
fuselage.
(3) Put the antenna in position on the fuselage.
(4) Attach the antenna with the screws.
(5) Connect the co-axial connector to the antenna.
(6) Seal the outer edge of the antenna to the
fuselage skin with sealant.
Use Dow Corning 732 RTV.
(7) Install the co-pilot's map light. Refer to Section 33-10.
(8) Do a test of the GPS. Refer to Paragraph 6.
