AUTOMATIC SPEED PROTECTION IN VERTICAL SPEED MODE
During climb
If the selected target V/S or FPA is too high (relative to the thrust condition and speed), the
FMGS maintains the target V/S or FPA but the aircraft decelerates and the indicated
airspeed decreases. When reaching VLS (or VLS-5 if the speed target is VLS), the selected
V/S or FPA target is temporarily abandonned to maintain VLS but V/S mode remains
engaged.
The FMGS automatically decreases the vertical speed to maintain VLS
The target V/S does not change but is no longer followed.
