 1.  General_______
 A.  This procedure contains two tasks. The first task removes the control drum and link for the nose wheel steering. The second task installs the control drum and link.

Make sure the downlocks are installed on the nose and main landing gear (AMM 32-00-20/201).
 (2)  
Make sure the steering collar for the nose wheels is in the center.
 (3)  
Put the towing lever in the TOWING position.

 CAUTION: DO NOT LET THE TORSION LINKS FALL FREELY WHEN YOU DISCONNECT
_______ THE TORSION LINKS. DAMAGE TO THE TORSION LINKS OR THE PROXIMITY SENSORS AND TARGETS CAN OCCUR.
 (1)  
Disconnect the torsion links at the apex joint (AMM 32-21-09/401).

Hold the top torsion link in landing gear extended position.

Install the rig pin NS-6 in the eccentric drum in the interconnect mechanism (AMM 32-51-00/501).

Do the steps that follow to disconnect the cables from the control drum (Detail A):
 (a)  
Loosen the NGPPA and NGPPB cables equally at the turnbuckles to decrease the tension.
