Prepare to Remove the Turbine-Vane-and-Blade Cooling Air-Valves

_______ OPERATION OF THE THRUST REVERSER. THE ACCIDENTAL OPERATION OF THE THRUST REVERSER CAN CAUSE INJURIES TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.

Do this procedure: Thrust Reverser Deactivation for Ground Maintenance (AMM 78-31-00/201).

Open the fan cowl panels (AMM 71-11-04/201).

Open the core cowl panels (AMM 71-11-06/201).

(4) Open the thrust reversers (AMM 78-31-00/201).

E. Procedure

(1) For the left TVBCA valve, remove the components that follow:
(a)
The pressure regulating valve (AMM 36-11-19/401)
(b)
The intermediate to high pressure tee (AMM 36-11-01/401)
(c)
The intermediate pressure check valve (AMM 36-11-02/401).

ENGINES WITHOUT PHASE 3; For the right TVBCA valve, remove the position switch for the TVBCA valve (AMM 75-24-13/401).

For the left TVBCA valve (5), remove the fire extinguisher tube (37) with the steps that follow:
(a)
Disconnect the tube union (34) at the support bracket for the pneumatic tube.
(b)
Disconnect the tube union (34) at the support bracket for the wire bundle.
(c)
Remove the bolt (36) and washer (35) which attaches the tube clamp to the support bracket for the pneumatic tube.
(d)
Remove the bolt (36), washer (35), and nut (38) which attach the tube clamp to the bracket on the top flange of the 2.9 bleed valve.
(e)
Remove the bolt (36), washer (35), and nut (38) which attach the tube clamp to the support bracket for the wire bundle.
(f)
Remove the fire extinguisher tube (37).
(g)
Install the protection caps to the openings of the fire extinguisher tube (37) and the mating tube openings.

(4) Remove the turbine-vane-and-blade cooling air-valves:
(a)
Remove the lockwire or safety cable and ferrule from the tube nut (22) of the air signal tube.
(b)
Disconnect the tube nut (22) of the air signal tube from the adapter (21) on the TVBCA valve (5).
(c)
Remove the bolts (7) which attach the flange for the turbine vane cooling air duct (8), and the bracket (33) for the right TVBCA valve (5), to the TVBCA valve flange. 1) Discard the gasket (9).
(d)
Remove the bolts (2) which attach the turbine blade cooling air duct (3), and the bracket (32) for the right TVBCA valve, to the flange on the TVBCA valve (5). 1) Remove the metering plate (4) or the ring spacer (4A) and
the metal gaskets (1).
a) Discard the metal gaskets (1).
b) Keep the metering plate (4) or ring spacer (4A).
