 WARNING: DO THE THRUST REVERSER DEACTIVATION PROCEDURE TO PREVENT THE
_______ OPERATION OF THE THRUST REVERSER. THE ACCIDENTAL OPERATION OF THE THRUST REVERSER CAN CAUSE INJURIES TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.

Do this procedure: Thrust Reverser Deactivation for Ground
 Maintenance (AMM 78-31-00/201).

Open the core cowl panels (AMM 71-11-06/201).

Procedure


 S 014-003-N00
 (1)  
For all the cooling air tubes but the two forward upper cooling air tubes, remove the lower starter air duct with the steps that follow (View B):

 (a)  
Remove the coupling which attaches the lower starter air duct to the start valve.

 (b)  
Remove the coupling which attaches the lower starter air duct to the upper starter air duct.

 (c)  
Remove the bolts, bushings, washers and nuts which attach the support flange on the lower starter air duct to the two support rods aft of the start valve.

 (d)  
Remove the bolts, nuts, bushing (for the upper support flange) and washers which attach the duct support flanges to the two support brackets.

 (e)  
Remove the lower starter air duct from the engine.

 (f)  
Remove the seals from the external flanges of the lower starter air duct.

 (g)  
Install protection caps to the openings in the lower starter air duct.

 (2)  For the two upper forward cooling air tubes, remove the LPT case cooling-air shutoff valve (AMM 75-24-04/401).

 (3)  ENGINES PRE-PW-SB 79-76; For the upper cooling air tubes, remove the oil pressure tube for the No. 4 bearing with the steps that follow:
 (a)  
Remove the clamps which attach the spray shield to the tube connection forward of the Flange M.

 (b)  
Remove the spray shield.

 (c)  
Disconnect the tube nut from the coupling forward of the Flange M.

 (d)  
Remove the clamps which attach the spray shield to the aft tube connection on the turbine exhaust case.

 (e)  
Remove the spray shield.

 (f)  
Disconnect the tube nut from the tube coupling to the rear of the Flange P.

 (g)  
Remove the bolts and nuts which attach the tube clamps to the brackets on the Flange M and the Flange N.

 (h)  
Remove the bolt, spacer and nut which attach the tube clamp and adjacent tube clamp together to the rear of the Flange N.

 (i)  
Remove the bolt and nut which attach the tube clamp to the bracket on the Flange P forward of the tube elbow.

 (j)  
Remove the oil pressure tube.

 (k)  
Install protection caps to the open ends of the oil pressure tubes for the No.4 bearing.

 (4)  ENGINES PRE-PW-SB 79-76; For the upper cooling air tubes, remove the oil scavenge tube for the No. 4 bearing with the steps that follow:
 (a)  
Disconnect the tube nut for the oil scavenge tube from the internal tube of the turbine exhaust case.

 (b)  
ENGINES PRE-PW-SB 79-75; Do the steps that follow: 1) Remove the bolt and nut which attach the clamp on the aft


 end of the spray shield to the bracket on the Flange M. 2) Remove the clamp from the aft end of the spray shield. 3) Remove the hose clamp which attaches the forward end of the
 spray shield.
 4) Remove the spray shield.
