(b) Tighten the nuts on the chromel (smaller diameter) thermocouple probe studs to 15-18 pound-inches (1.7-2.0 newton-meters).
(4) S 644-001-N00Use engine oil to lubricate the threads of the bolts (6 and 9), which attach the thermocouple cable clamps to the bracket at the 7 o'clock position.
(5) S 424-002-N00At the 7 o'clock position, attach the thermocouple cable clamps to the bracket with the bolts (6 and 9), spacer (17), and nuts (7).
(6) S 434-003-N00Tighten the nuts (7) to 36-40 pound-inches (4.1-4.5 newton-meters).
(7) S 644-004-N00Use engine oil to lubricate the threads of the bolt (9) which attaches the thermocouple cable clamp to the bracket at the 10 o'clock position.
(8) S 424-005-N00At the 10 o'clock position, attach the clamp to the bracket with the bolt (6) and the nut (8).
(9) S 434-006-N00Tighten the nut (8) to 36-40 pound-inches (4.1-4.5 newton-meters).
S 644-007-N00
(10)
Use engine oil to lubricate the threads of the bolt (6) which attaches the thermocouple cable clamp to the mounting flange of the thermocouple probe at the 10 o'clock position.
S 424-008-N00
(11)

S 434-009-N00
(12)
Tighten the bolt (6) to 75-85 pound-inches (8.5-9.6 newton-meters).
S 024-081-N00
(13)
Remove the screws (23) that temporarily attached the cover (24) on the terminal box.
S 014-011-N00
(14)
Remove the cover (24) from the terminal box.
S 034-030-N00
(15)
Remove the nuts (21 and 22) from the terminal box studs.
S 424-031-N00
(16)
Connect the harness leads of the left thermocouple cable (2), right thermocouple cable (1), and EEC thermocouple cable (20) to the applicable studs of the terminal box.
S 434-032-N00
(17)
Install the nuts (21 and 22) on the studs of the terminal box.
S 434-033-N00
(18)
Tighten the nuts (21 and 22) to the correct torque as follows:
(a)
Tighten the nuts on the alumel (larger diameter) terminal box studs to 18-22 pound-inches (2.0-2.5 newton-meters).
(b)
Tighten the nuts on the chromel (smaller diameter) terminal box studs to 15-18 pound-inches (1.7-2.0 newton-meters).
CAUTION:_______ DO NOT TIGHTEN THE NUTS MORE THAN THE MAXIMUM TORQUE THAT IS
SPECIFIED. TOO MUCH TORQUE ON THE NUTS CAN LOOSEN OR CAUSE
DAMAGE TO THE TERMINAL BOX STUDS.
S 034-034-N00
(19) Remove the two screws (25) that temporarily attached the outer clamp half (26) to the inner clamp half (27) and the terminal box.
