 (2)  Open the applicable core cowl panel (AMM 71-11-06/201). (a) Open the right core cowl panel to get access to the EGT probes at the 1 or 4 o'clock position. (b) Open the left core cowl panel to get access to the EGT probes at the 7 or 10 o'clock position.

 (3)  Visually examine all the surfaces of the EGT probe for cracks. (a) Replace the EGT probe if you find cracks (AMM 77-21-01/401).
 NOTE:____ Do not replace the EGT probe for small nicks only.

 (4)  Visually examine the terminals on the EGT probe for thread damage.

 (5)  Examine the EGT probes for loose studs. (a) Replace the EGT probe if the terminals are loose or damaged (AMM 77-21-01/401).

 (6)  Close the applicable core cowl panel (AMM 71-11-06/201).

 (7)  For the applicable engine, remove the DO-NOT-CLOSE tags and close these circuit breakers on the main power distribution panel, P6: (a) 6G15 SCU ALT PWR ENG 1 (b) 6G23 ENG SCU 1 (c) 6G16 SCU ALT PWR ENG 2 (d) 6G24 ENG SCU 2 (e) 6G17 SCU ALT PWR ENG 3 (f) 6G25 ENG SCU 3 (g) 6G18 SCU ALT PWR ENG 4 (h) 6G26 ENG SCU 4

 (1)  
Clean the EGT probe (AMM 77-21-01/701).

 (2)
Apply heat at the junctions of the EGT probe with a heat gun.

 (3)  Do a continuity check in circuits A and B at the terminal studs.
 NOTE:____ If the needle on the meter moves, there is continuity in the EGT (TT4.95) thermocouple circuits.
 (a)  If the needle does not move, replace the EGT probe (AMM 77-21-01/401).

 (4)  Do an insulation resistance check between the chromel terminal stud and the body of the EGT probe (for a minimum of 25 seconds). (a) Make sure the resistance is more than 50,000 ohms (minimum). (b) Replace the EGT probe if the resistance is less than 50,000 ohms (AMM 77-21-01/401).

 (5)  Do an insulation resistance check between the alumel terminal stud and the body of the EGT probe (for a minimum of 25 seconds). (a) Make sure the resistance is more than 50,000 ohms (minimum). (b) Replace the EGT probe if the resistance is less than 50,000 ohms (AMM 77-21-01/401).
