(1) Open the right and left fan cowl panel (AMM 71-11-02/201).

Open the right and left thrust reverser (AMM 78-31-00/201).

Do the steps that follow to recondition eroded or pitted Type 4
ignition leads:
(a)
Install tooling on lead termination, follow specific vendor instructions. 1) Polish tip as specified. 2) Remove tool.
(b)
If it is necessary, remove the carbon build-up from the socket contacts with 3/8 inch medium grit abrasive impregnated rubber rod.
(c)
Make sure you remove all of the abrasive, unwanted material from the ignition lead and the spark igniter.
WARNING: DO NOT GET METHYL ETHYL KETONE (MEK) IN YOUR MOUTH OR
_______ EYES, OR ON YOUR SKIN. DO NOT BREATHE THE FUMES FROM MEK. PUT ON A PROTECTIVE SPLASH GOGGLE AND GLOVES WHEN YOU USE MEK. KEEP MEK AWAY FROM SPARKS, FLAME AND HEAT. MEK IS A POISONOUS AND FLAMMABLE SOLVENT WHICH CAN CAUSE INJURIES TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
WARNING: USE A GOOD FLOW OF AIR WHEN YOU CLEAN THE CONNECTOR.
_______ DO NOT BREATHE THE FUMES FROM THE SOLVENT. KEEP THE SOLVENT AWAY FROM SPARKS, FLAME AND HEAT. SOLVENT IS FLAMMABLE AND MUST NOT TOUCH THE SKIN. SOLVENT CAN CAUSE INJURY OR DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT.
CAUTION: DO NOT USE METHYL ETHYL KETONE (MEK) AROUND VERY HIGH
_______ HEAT, SPARKS OR OPEN FLAMES. MEK IS VERY FLAMMABLE. KEEP IT IN AN APPROVED SAFETY CONTAINER.
1) Use MEK, Trichloroethane (1, 1, 1) or stoddard solvent to clean the socket contacts.
