2) If less than 10% of the second thread is damaged, repair by chasing the threads.
3) Damage to the threads that exceeds the above limits is not permitted. If found, replace the ignition lead (AMM 74-21-01/401).
(f)
ENGINES PRE-CFMI-SB 74-009; (ENGINES WITH THE WHITE CHAMFERED SILICONE SEAL); Examine the ignition lead cage spring. 1) No damage is permitted. If found, replace the cage spring
assembly.
(g)
ENGINES PRE-CFMI-SB 74-009; (ENGINES WITH THE WHITE CHAMFERED SILICONE SEAL); There are no inspection limits for the white chamfered silicone seal. Replace the seal at each exposure (AMM 74-21-01/401).
NOTE: The white chamfered seal (Pre-CFMI-SB 74-009) and
____ the blue symmetrical seal (Post-CFMI-SB 74-009) are not
___ interchangeable.
(h)
ENGINES POST-CFMI-SB 74-009; (ENGINES WITH THE BLUE SYMMETRICAL SILICONE SEAL); Examine the ignition lead captive spring assembly for damage. 1) No damage is permitted. If found, replace the ignition
lead (AMM 74-21-01/401).
(i)
ENGINES POST-CFMI-SB 74-009;
(ENGINES WITH THE BLUE SYMMETRICAL SILICONE SEAL);
There are no inspection limits for the blue symmetrical
silicone seal. Replace at each exposure (AMM 74-21-01/401).
NOTE: The white chamfered seal (Pre-CFMI-SB 74-009) and
____ the blue symmetrical seal (Post-CFMI-SB 74-009) are not
___ interchangeable.

(11) Do these steps to examine the Type 3 and Type 4 ignition leads:
(a) Examine the braided conduit for the conditions that follow:
1) ENGINES PRE-CFMI-SB 74-006 ENGINES PRE-CFMI-SB 74-008; Chafing along the full length of the ignition lead. If found, reposition the ignition lead to stop chafing.
NOTE: The ignition leads for type 3 and 4 ignition
____ systems frequently can chafe on the 2 o'clock VSV actuator bellcrank. This damage can prevent cooling air flow to the igniter plug end of the ignition lead. The loss of cooling air can breakdown the insulation of the ignition lead end and decrease the life of the lead and igniter plug.

2) ENGINES POST-CFMI-SB 74-006 ENGINES POST-CFMI-SB 74-008; Chafing along the full length of the ignition lead. If found, reposition the ignition lead to stop chafing.
3) Examine the braided conduit for broken strands. Broken strands are permitted if they are in the limits that follow: a) Broken strands no more than half of the circumference
by one inch in length. b) Broken strands no more than one inch in length in any three inches of conduit length. c) Total damage: no more than 10% of the total length of the conduit. d) No damage to the conduit underneath strands is permitted. e) Separation at the brazed joints is not permitted.
(b)
Examine the braided conduit assembly routing to make sure the bends in the lead routing are greater than 6 inch (152 mm) radius. 1) If you find bends that are not in the limits, reposition
the lead to remove tight bends.
(c)
Examine the chafe guard of the ignition lead for cuts and tears. 1) If found, repair the lead at the next opportunity (AMM
74-21-01/801).
(d)
Examine the cooling air shroud for these:
1) Blockage at the exit holes is not permitted. If found, remove the blockage.

(12)
Connect the ignition lead to the exciter (AMM 74-21-01/401).
(13)
Connect the ignition lead to the spark igniter (AMM 74-21-01/401).
S 716-017-C00
(14)
On Type 3 and Type 4 ignition leads, do an audible check of the operation of the spark igniter (AMM 74-00-00/501).
