 (1) Open the right and left fan cowl panel (AMM 71-11-02/201).

 WARNING: OBEY THE INSTRUCTIONS IN AMM 78-31-00/201 WHEN YOU OPEN THE
_______ THRUST REVERSERS. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THE INSTRUCTIONS, INJURY TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.
 (2)  
Open the right and left thrust reverser (AMM 78-31-00/201).

 (3)  
Check the depth of the socket contact that uses the spark igniter as follows:

 (a)  
Install a clean or new spark igniter in the ignition lead.

 (b)  
Examine the seat of the spark igniter against the aft end of
 the ignition lead (flange to flange).


 (c)  
Remove the spark igniter from the ignition lead.

 (d)  
If the spark igniter seats correctly in the ignition lead, do the Inside Diameter (ID) clearance check.

 (e)  
If the spark igniter does not seat correctly in the ignition
 lead, do the socket contact repair, before the ID clearance
 check.

 (4)  
Do a clearance check of the ID of the socket contact that uses the gage pin as follows:

 (a)  
Put the gage pin in the ID of the socket contact.

 (b)  
Attach the tension gage to the eyelet of the gage pin.

 (c)  
Measure the force necessary to remove the gage pin from the
 socket contact.


 (d)  
If the force necessary to remove the gage pin is more than
 40 ounces (1134 gm), do the step that follows:
