(e)
If the spark igniter does not seat correctly against the aft
flange of the ignition lead, do this:
1) Repair with the repair step for the socket contact.
(f)
If the force necessary to remove the gage pin is less than
3.2 ounces (90.7 gm), replace the ignition lead
(AMM 74-21-01/401).
(5)
Repair the socket contact with the diamond machine file as follows:

CAUTION: LIGHTLY HIT THE IGNITION LEAD CONNECTOR AGAINST THE PALM
_______ OF YOUR HAND QUICKLY UNTIL YOU REMOVE THE PARTICLES. DO NOT HIT THE CONNECTOR AGAINST A HARD SURFACE. YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO OR HAVE A CRACK IN THE CERAMIC INSULATOR.
(a)
Remove the material from the ID of the socket with a file in a rearward and forward motion.
(b)
Measure the depth you install the pin with the step for an ID clearance check of the socket contact.

Measure the removal force with the step that does an ID clearance check of the socket contact.
(d)
Do the step to remove the material until the igniter plug seats correctly. 1) The force to remove the gage pin must be between
3.2 to 40.0 ounces (90.7 to 1134 gm).

(6) Replace the Ceramic Insulator
(a)
Remove the large snap ring at the bottom of the well in the ignition lead with forceps.
(b)
Remove the small snap ring on the contact of the ceramic insulator with needle nose pliers.
(c)
Remove the insulator.
(d)
Measure the Outside Diameter (OD) of the socket contact for a sign of arc damage. 1) If there is arc damage, replace the ignition lead
(AMM 74-21-01/401).
(e)
Slide the new ceramic insulator over the socket contact.
NOTE: The ceramic insulators for PRE SB 74-009 and POST
____ SB 74-009 are not interchangeable.
(f)
Install a small snap ring in the groove of the socket contact at the tip of the insulator.
(g)
Install a large snap ring at the bottom of the ignition lead with forceps.
