CAUTION:_______BE CAREFUL WITH THE IGNITION LEAD. DAMAGE TO THE CONDUIT AND INTERNAL WIRES CAN OCCUR.
 (b)  
Carefully put the forward end of the ignition lead forward through the 3 o'clock strut.

 (c)  
Install the bolt and retaining plate at the bottom of the 3 o'clock strut. 1) Tighten the bolt to 100-115 pound-inches

 (11-13 Newton meters).

 (d)  
Install the clamps on the 3 o'clock strut to attach the ignition lead. 1) Tighten the loop clamp to 75-85 pound-inches

 (8.5-9.5 Newton meters). 2) Tighten the 3 piece clamp to 50-60 pound-inches (6.0-7.0 Newton meters).

 (e)
Install and seal the strut fairing at the 3 o'clock position.


 NOTE: BMS5-63 primer and sealant is necessary to give
____ sufficient fire protection for the extension ring and fairing. Sealant 93-006-1 is necessary to fill the crack between the fairing and the support structure for aerodynamic smoothness.
 1)  Remove the used sealant from the fairing and the mating surfaces on the extension ring and fan frame strut.
 WARNING: DO NOT GET METHYL ETHYL KETONE (MEK) IN YOUR MOUTH OR
_______ EYES, OR ON YOUR SKIN. DO NOT BREATHE THE FUMES FROM MEK. PUT ON A PROTECTIVE SPLASH GOGGLE AND GLOVES WHEN YOU USE MEK. KEEP MEK AWAY FROM SPARKS, FLAME AND HEAT. MEK IS A POISONOUS AND FLAMMABLE SOLVENT WHICH CAN CAUSE INJURIES TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
 2)  Use solvent to clean the mating surfaces of the extension ring and the strut fairing. Rub the surfaces dry.
 3)  Apply the parting agent to the mating surfaces of the extension ring. a) Let the parting agent cure until it is dry to the
 touch.
 ú 4)  Apply the BMS5-63, Type 1 or 2, Class B-4 primer and
 ú sealant, as follows: a) Apply the BMS5-63 primer as a continuous coat to the mating surfaces of the extension ring. 1 Let the primer cure for a minimum of 30 minutes._
 NOTE: The primer will form a chalky surface when
____ dry.

b)  Apply the BMS5-63 sealant to the faying surface of the strut fairing.
 5)  Install the strut fairing on the extension ring. Use 0.025 inch x 0.375 inch (0.64 mm x 9.53 mm) spacers or washers at each fastener location to keep the correct sealant thickness. Do not fully install the fasteners.
 ú 6)  Let the BMS5-63, Type 1 sealant cure at room temperature
 ú  for 48 hours.
 ú
 ú  NOTE:____If you use the Type 2 sealant, the cure time at room
 ú  temperature is four hours.
 ú
 ú  a) If a shorter cure time is necessary for the Type 1
 ú  sealant, cure the sealant at 120° | 5° Farenheit (50°C)
 ú for four hours. 7) After the sealant has cured, do a visual check to make sure the sealant fully covers the faying surfaces. 8) Remove the spacers and fully torque the strut fairing fasteners.

 9)  Make sure the space between the strut fairing and the extension ring is clean. If necessary, clean the surface with solvent and rub the surface dry.
 10) Use a brush or a spray to apply the 1200 Red primer in the space between the strut fairing and the extension ring (AMM 70-10-01/201). a) Let the primer dry for 1 hour.
 11) Apply the DC 93-006-1 (aerodynamic) sealant to the space between the strut fairing and the extension ring. Make the sealant smooth. a) Let the sealant cure for 10 hours.
 NOTE: A ten hour cure time is for usual conditions
____ 77° |2°F (25 |1°C) and 50 |5 % relative humidity. The cure time can be made faster if you flow warm air (not more than 120°F [50°C]) along the sealant. You can also make the sealing surfaces warm before you apply the sealant.
