(7)
Install battery with end marked INSERT THIS END in first, as indicated by arrow on battery.
CAUTION: INCORRECT POLARITY WILL PERMANENTLY DAMAGE UNDERWATER LOCATOR BEACON UNIT.
(8)
Remove old O-ring from battery cover.
(9)
Clean threads and O-ring groove in body and cover thoroughly with freon or similar solvent.
(10)
Apply thin coat of lubricant to O-ring, O-ring groove, thread, and install new O-ring.
(11)
Position rubber shock cushion smoothly on end cap.
(12)
Install end cap and tighten until cap flange contacts underwater locator beacon unit body. Use hand force only on spanner wrench.
(13)
Test underwater locator beacon unit for operations.
CAUTION: DIRT OR OTHER FOREIGN MATERIALS MAY DAMAGE THREADS AND/OR ALLOW WATER LEAKAGE THROUGH O-RING SEAL.

4. Underwater Locator Beacon Unit Test
A. Equipment and Materials
(1) Ultrasonic Test Set . DuKane Model 42A12, PL-1, or PL-3
B. Test Underwater Locator Beacon Unit (using the 42A12 test set)
(1)
Position ultrasonic test set approximately 3 feet from underwater locator beacon unit.
(2)
Set ON-OFF-GAIN control on test set to mid-range. Check that a background noise is heard thru the earphone.
(3)
Set TUNING CONTROL to 37 +1 kHz.
(4)
Set INPUT SELECTOR switch to INT position.
(5)
Check test set operations by jingling keys or coins in front of microphone on test set.
(6)
Activate underwater locator beacon unit key by shorting center conductor and case with a piece of metallic braid.
(7)
Position test set approximately 3 feet from underwater locator beacon unit. Check that a pulsed tone at approximately 1 kHz is heard at 1-second intervals.
(8)
Remove jumper from underwater locator beacon unit and turn off test set.
(9)
Check that water switch on ULB end is free from grease, dirt, or moisture. Wipe clean with solvent, if required.
NOTE: Water switch must be free from grease, dirt, or moisture to prevent leakage currents from occurring across the switch.
C. Test Underwater Locator Beacon Unit (using the PL-1 test set)
(1)
Electrically connect the ULB center conductor and the case with a piece of metallic braid or a wire. The connection will start the ULB ultrasonic signal.
(2)
Push the end of the test set against the ULB body approximately 1 inch from the switch end of the ULB.
(3)
Push and hold the operation switch on the test set.
(4)
Make sure the BEACON ACTIVE WHEN FLASHING indicator flashes during each output pulse of the ULB.
(5)
Remove the test set from the body of the ULB.
(6)
Remove the shorting braid or wire from the switch end of the ULB.
D. Test Underwater Locator Beacon Unit (using the PL-3 test set)
(1)
Put the end of the PL-3 test set against the ULB water switch.
(a)
Make sure you hear a tone.
(b)
Make sure the LED light flashes.
(2)
Remove the PL-3 test set from the ULB.

CLOCKS - DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION
1. General
A. Clocks are installed on the captain's and first officer's instrument panels. The clocks have a 12-hour dial, associated hands, a sweep second hand, a small minute dial, an elapsed time dial, and associated controls. (See figure 1.)
B. A knob (WIND) at the lower left edge of the clock is used to wind the clock, and to set the main indicating hands. Counterclockwise rotation of the knob winds the clock. Setting is accomplished by pulling out on the knob and rotating as required to indicate the correct time.
C. The elapsed time dial, which records hours, is controlled by a lever at the upper right edge of the clock. When the lever is positioned on 0 (zero), the two elapsed time hands should be on
12. Clockwise rotation of the lever from 0 (zero) to GO starts the hands. Clockwise rotation of the lever from GO to STOP, stops the hands. Counterclockwise rotation of the lever from STOP to GO restarts the hands. Clockwise rotation of the lever from STOP to 0 (zero) resets the hands.
D. The sweep second hand and the minute recording dial hand are controlled by a knob (PUSH) at the lower right edge of the clock. When the sweep second hand and minute hand are on zero, the hands may be started by pushing the knob. Pushing the knob a second time stops the hands. Pushing the knob a third time resets both hands.
