(6)
On first officer's instrument panel, verify that GROUND PROXIMITY INOP indicator light is off, and that FLAP (FLAP/GEAR) INHIBIT switch is set at NORMAL position.

(7)
Install ground lock pins in landing gear. The landing gear hydraulic systems must be off.

WARNING:  THIS MUST BE ACCOMPLISHED BEFORE OPERATING LANDING GEAR LEVER.

(8)
Activate electrical drive for flap system (Ref Chapter 27).

WARNING:  ENSURE THAT NO PERSONNEL ARE WORKING ON OR NEAR FLAP SYSTEM OR INJURIES TO PERSONNEL MAY RESULT.

(9)
Set landing flaps to UP position.

(10)
Set VOR/ILS switch on captain's instrument panel to NORMAL position.

(11)
Set MDA cursor on captain's LRRA indicator at lower mechanical stop.

(12)
Connect pressure source to pitot static systems that provides information to No. 1 air data computer (Ref 34-11-0).

NOTE:  Observe procedures and limitations of air data system as defined in 34-12-0, Adjustment/Test.

(13)

C.  System Self-Test
(1)
Press GROUND PROXIMITY INOP indicator. Check that indicator comes on when pressed.

(2)
Press and hold GROUND PROXIMITY SYS TEST switch on first officer's instrument panel for at least 5 seconds.

(3)
Check that PULL UP, BELOW G/S, INOP indicator lights come on and that loud aural warning consists of GLIDESLOPE and WHOOP-WHOOP-PULL-UP occur.

NOTE:  The PULL-UP indicators come on flashing and the WHOOP-WHOOP-PULL-UP aural warning may repeat up to 7 times.

(4)
Release TEST switch, check that all GPWS indicators go off.

(5)
Open AIR DATA COMPTR - 1 circuit breaker. Check that INOP indicator comes on.

(6)
Press TEST switch for 5 seconds. Check that INOP and BELOW G/S indicators come on, and that on cycle of loud GLIDESLOPE aural warning occurs.

(7)
Release TEST switch and close circuit breaker. Check that indicator lights go off.

(8)
Open RADIO ALTM - 1 circuit breaker. Check that INOP indicator light comes on. Press TEST switch for 5 seconds. Check that INOP indicator light remains on.

(9)
Release TEST switch and close circuit breaker. Check that indicator light goes off.

D.  System Test
(1)
Test Take Off Descent Warning

(a)
Using radio altimeter test set, simulate a radio altitude of 600 feet and press TEST switch for 5 seconds. Check that no warning occurs. Simulate a 400-foot radio altitude.

(b)
Pull landing gear override trigger and set landing gear lever to OFF position.

(c)
Using pitot static test set, set an altitude of 600 feet.

(d)
Simulate a barometric sink rate of 500 feet per minute. Check that PULL-UP indicators and aural warning consists of DON'T SINK come on between 4 to 9 seconds from start of sink rate simulation.

NOTE: Stop watch should be used to check the time requirement.

(e)
Increase radio altitude to 750 feet and barometric altitude to 10,000 ft. Check that GPWS warning goes off.

(2)
Test Excessive Sink Rate Warning

(a)
Simulate a 2000-foot radio altitude and a barometric altitude of 20,000 feet.

(b)
Simulate a barometric sink rate of 4500 feet per minute. Check that PULL UP indicators and aural warning consisting of SINK RATE come on.

(c)
Slowly reduce radio altitude to 1200 feet. Check that PULL UP indicators remain on, and that aural warning changes to WHOOP-WHOOP PULL UP.

(d)
Adjust barometric sink rate to 2700 feet per minute. Check that warning goes off.

NOTE: The warning may change to SINK RATE before going off.

(e)
Return barometric altitude to 10,000 feet, barometric sink rate to 0 feet per minute, and simulate a radio altitude of 1000 feet. Check that no warning occurs.

(f)
Simulate a barometric sink rate of 3000 feet per minute. Check that PULL UP indicators and aural warning consists of SINK RATE come on.

(g)
Slowly reduce radio altitude to 700 feet. Check that PULL UP indicators remain on, and that aural warning changes to WHOOP-WHOOP PULL UP.

(h)
Reduce barometric sink rate to 1800 feet per minute. Check that Warnings go off.

(3)
 Test Closure Warning

(a)
Set barometric altitude to 5000 feet and radio altitude to 2100 feet.

(b)
Gradually reduce simulate d radio altitude from 2100 feet to 100 feet in approximately 30 seconds. Check that PULL UP indicators and aural warning consists of TERRAIN, TERRAIN followed by a repetition of WHOOP-WHOOP PULL UP come on when radio altitude reaches below 1500 feet.
