Level VG. After 45 seconds, tilt VG-1 to 20 degrees pitch down. Check that V-bars indicate pitch up command. After 45 seconds, slowly reduce tilt until V-bars indicate zero command. Check that tilt angle is 12 .3 degrees pitch down.

Open AIR DATA CMPTR-1 CRT BKRS (AC & 26VAC).
(h)
Check that ALT HOLD switch on the FLT DIR Mode Controller remains ON.
(i)
Return static pressure to ambient. Level VG-1 and close AIR DATA COMPTR-1 CRT BKRS.

D. VOR/LOC Mode Tests
(1)
Captain's Side:
(a)
For captain's instruments, tune No. 1 VOR/ILS receiver to a VOR test frequency and set mode selector to HDG.
(b)
Set VOR signal generator to a 180-degree radial. (A radial is the signal as it extends along a line in a magnetic direction from the station, specified by a number of the radial. For example, zero radial extends north of the station; 90-degree radial extends east of the station.)
(c)
Turn course knob on FLT DIR mode select panel until course deviation bar indicates a 2-dot fly left deviation. Check that TO-FROM arrow indicates airplane is flying TO station.
(d)
Set MODE SEL switch to VOR/LOC and check that VOR/LOC mode annunciator lights amber.
(e)
Rotate HEADING knob on FLT DIR mode select panel and check that V-bars follow heading marker for roll commands. Return heading marker to airplane heading.
(f)
Rotate course knob so that course deviation bar in captain's HSI is moving toward center. Stop when APD changes to green VOR/LOC. Check that course deviation bar is at 1 .0.5 dot deviation and that APD HDG SEL annunciator is off.
(g)
Set HSI course arrow to zero deviation. After 2 minutes, check that ADI V-bars indicate zero roll command with 0 .3 degrees of VG-1 tilt. VOR/LOC mode annunciation should continue to be green.
(h)
Set mode selector to HDG and course arrow to 45 degrees greater than airplane heading. Tune VOR/ILS receiver to localizer frequency and apply fly-left deviation signal so that deviation bar is deflected against stops.
(i)
Turn captain's MODE SEL switch to MAN GS and then back to VOR/LOC. Rotate HEADING knob and then return heading marker to airplane heading. Check that V-bars do not respond to HEADING knob.
(9)
On F/D control panel, position mode selector to HDG. Check for green F/D APD HDG SEL annunciation.
(10)
Position controls on VHF NAV control panel and NAV test set, to provide a localizer test signal with a more than 2-dot fly left deviation. Check HSI deviation bar is deflected full scale left.
(11)
On F/D control panel, rotate COURSE knob until HSI course arrow indicates 45 degrees greater than airplane heading. Check HSI deviation bar is deflected full scale right and ADI V-bars indicate fly-right command.
(12)
Position mode selector to MAN GS and then back to VOR/LOC. Check F/D APD HDG SEL annunciator is off and VOR/LOC annunciation is green.
(13)
With HEADING knob on F/D control panel, rotate HSI heading marker left and right of airplane heading. Check ADI V-bars do not respond to heading commands.
(14)
Return heading marker to airplane heading.
(15)
Wait 2 minutes and slowly adjust COURSE knob until V-bars indicate zero roll command. Check HSI course arrow indicates 20 +3 degrees greater than airplane heading and F/D APO VOR/LOC annunciation remains green.
(16)
Rotate COURSE knob until course arrow indicates 35 degrees greater than airplane heading. Check V-bars indicate fly-right command and F/D APO VOR/LOC annunciation remains green.
(17)
Rotate COURSE knob until course arrow indicates 5 degrees greater than airplane heading. Check V-bars indicate fly-left command and F/D APO VOR/LOC annunciation remains green.
(18)
Rotate COURSE knob until course arrow indicates airplane heading.
(19)
Position mode selector to OFF and then to AUTO APP. Check, V-bars indicate fly-left command, F/D APD for green HDG SEL and amber
(20)
With NAV test set, slowly reduce LOC deviation to zero. Check for following:
(a)
ADI - V-bars zero
(b)
HSI - Deviation zero
