(2)
Indicator Self-Test

(a)
On appropriate ADI, press and hold TEST switch. Check ATT flag appears and horizon sphere rotates left 15 to 25 degrees and down 5 to 15 degrees.

(b)
Release TEST switch. Check horizon sphere returns to display airplane attitude and ATT flag retracts from view.

(c)
If no further tests are required, remove electrical power.

Indicator Command Bar and Warning Flag Test

(a)  Prepare to test. 1) Provide electrical power. 2) Check all circuit breakers for air data, attitude reference, autopilot, autothrottle,
compass, low range radio altimeter, performance data computer, VOR/ILS navigation and flight instrument systems are closed and all systems are operational.
3)  Tune VHF NAV receivers to a localizer frequency other than local VOR/TAC station. Check ADI LOC and GS flags and glide slope pointer come into view.
(b)  Test
1)  On AFCS mode control panel, position flight director switch to OFF. Check ADI for following: ATT flag - Out of view FD flag - Out of view Command Bars - Out of view SPD flag - In view GS flag - In view Glide slope pointer - In view LOC flag - In view Localizer pointer - Out of view Attitude Sphere - Displays airplane attitude.

2)  Open appropriate VG circuit breaker. Check ATT flag comes into view.
3)  Close VG circuit breaker. Check ATT flag goes out of view.
4)  Open appropriate FLT DIR AC and DC circuit breakers. Check FD flag comes into view.
5)  Close FLT DIR AC and DC circuit breakers. Check FD flag goes out of view.
6) On appropriate VHF NAV control panel, actuate UP/LT self-test while checking for following: a) After 3 seconds FD, LOC, and GS flags go out of view, glide slope pointer deflects up, and localizer pointer deflects left. b) After 20 seconds FD, LOC, and GS flags come into view, and localizer pointer returns to center.
NOTE:  On airplanes with King Radio KNR 6030 navigation units installed, flags retract from view within 4 seconds and remain out of view for as long as self-test is actuated.
7)  Release Up/LT test switch.
8)  Tune appropriate VHF NAV receiver to a VOR frequency. Check ADI glide slope and localizer flags and pointers go out of view.
9)  Prepare AFCS for ADI BITE test by providing electrical power to autopilot, PDC, attitude reference, compass, VHF NAV, LRRA, air data, autothrottle and flight instruments.
10)  Select PDC CDU to autopilot BITE by selecting STBY, pressing RCL, (-) then selecting page 5 (autopilot BITE).
11)  Select NO (ENT) to SYMPTOM/PIREP and GROUND FUNCT to enter VERIFICATION mode (YES), step system through LRU component list to obtain ADI test No. (24 for captain, 74 for first officer).
12)  Perform BITE INITIALIZE steps and required actions as prompted on CDU and perform BITE.
13)  Follow instructions to provide system diagnostic routine if a BITE fails. Replace indicated component and recycle system through BITE until system passes.
14)  Turn off all systems.
15)  Remove electrical power if no longer required.

HORIZONTAL SITUATION INDICATOR - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
1. General
A.  Two horizontal situation indicators (HSI, CDI, PDI) are installed in the airplane. One is installed on the captain's instrument panel (P1) and one on the first officer's instrument panel (P3).
B.  Each indicator is clamp mounted on the panel and is electrically connected to the flight director system thru multipin connectors on the back.
2.  Remove Indicator
A.  Open COMPASS -1 and INST XFMR-1 (captain's indicator) or COMPASS -2 and INST XFMR-2 (first officer's indicator) circuit breakers on P18 or P6 circuit breaker panel.
B.  Loosen clamp and pull out indicator.
C.  Disconnect electrical connectors.
3.  Install Indicator
A.  Connect electrical connectors, push in indicator, and tighten clamp.
B.  Close circuit breakers opened in step 2.A.
4.  Test Indicator
A.  The following tests are provided to check horizontal situation indicator operation. For a quick check of indicator after installation perform Indicator Power-On Test (Par c). For a more complete check out of the indicator perform Indicator Radio Navigation Displays Test (Par D).
B.  Prepare to Test
(1)
Provide external electrical power

(2)
Verify all circuit breakers for flight director, VOR/ILS navigation, compass, and attitude reference systems are closed and all systems are operational.
