R override lower color and densities for maximum situational
R awareness of the most significant terrain in relation to the
R altitude and flight path of the aircraft.

R With the Peaks display, two elevation numbers indicating the
R highest and lowest terrain currently being displayed are
R shown on the display. The elevation numbers indicate terrain
R in hundred of feet above sea level (MSL). The terrain
R elevation numbers are displayed with the highest terrain
R number on top, and the lowest terrain number beneath it. The
R highest terrain number is shown in the same color as the
R highest terrain color pattern on the display, and the lowest
R terrain number is shown in the color of the lowest terrain
R color pattern shown on the display. A single elevation
R number is displayed when the screen is all black or blue as
R a result of flying over water or relatively flat terrain
R where there is no appreciable difference in terrain
R elevations. The elevation numbers on the display are an
R additional indication that the terrain display is selected.

R 2_ Terrain and Obstacle caution alert (option)

R When the conditions have been met to generate a terrain or
R obstacle caution alert, a specific audio alert and light
R output is triggered and the background image is enhanced to
R highlight the terrain caution threats.
R At the start of a terrain caution alert, the Terrain Awareness
R function triggers the caution audio alert phrase TERRAIN
R AHEAD, TERRAIN AHEAD. The phrase is repeated after seven
R seconds if still within the terrain caution envelope. The
R Terrain Awareness function respond to an obstacle caution
R alert by triggering the obstacle caution audio alert phrase
R OBSTACLE AHEAD, OBSTACLE AHEAD. The phrase is repeated after
R seven seconds if still within the terrain caution envelope.
R During a terrain caution alert or obstacle caution alert, the
R GPWS legend of the PULL UP/GPWS pushbutton switches 4WZ and
R 5WZ is on.
R During a terrain caution alert, areas where terrain violates
R the terrain caution envelope along the aircraft track, and
R within plus or minus 90 deg. of the aircraft track, are
R painted with the caution color 100 per cent yellow.
R During an obstacle caution alert areas where an obstacle
R violates the terraincaution envelope along the aircraft track,
R and within plus or minus 90 deg. of the aircraft track, are
R displayed with the caution color yellow.

R within the terrain warning envelope. The Terrain Awareness
R function responds to an obstacle warning alert by triggering
R the obstacle warning audio alert OBSTACLE AHEAD, PULL UP. The
R phrase is repeated continuously while within the terrain
R warning envelope.
R During a terrain or obstacle warning alert, the PULL UP legend
R of the PULL UP/GPWS pushbutton switches 4WZ and 5WZ is on.
