Publication management becomes more efficient as, once the data
has been uploaded into AMOS, it is immediately available to all AMOS
users. The integrated filter function makes searching easier and faster.
Reliability and time efficiency increase regarding the handling of
revisions. Each AMOS customer can decide individually, how long
updates/changes should be marked within the electronic manual. The
OEM manual is fully integrated into AMOS and via right mouse click, all
information is immediately made available and thereby time
consuming searches in the paper library are avoided. Last but not
least, in terms of environmental friendliness, paperless manuals also
make a contribution towards saving natural resources.
SUPPORTED OEM MANUALS
With AMOS Release 9.10, the OEM manual library has been launched
and AMOS now supports the following documents:
AMM (Aircraft Maintenance Manual), MMEL (Master Minimum
Equipment List), TSM (Trouble Shooting Manual), IPC (Illustrated
Parts Catalogue), MPD Task Card SGML / TSDF / XML Format.
For most manuals, availability in SGML format with CGM graphic files is
a precondition for uploading. One of the many highlights of the OEM
library is the fact that all manuals are fully integrated into AMOS. By
means of a filter and search function (also via FIN code) within the
electronic compendia, looking for a particular topic is accelerated.
Since AMOS provides support for manuals of different manufacturers
such as Airbus, Boeing and Embraer, diverse documents are combined
in one system. Embedded vector graphics are fully supported and
users have an instant access to OEM manuals out of all AMOS
modules. All documents are printable and can be converted to PDF.

MANUAL’S SPECIFICATIONS
AMM: AMOS supports initial and recurring data uploads for Airbus and
Boeing manuals and provides revision administration. Task cards and
all other AMOS programs that support links can have AMM references.
Referenced AMM page blocks, tasks or graphics are printable - along
with the Task Cards or respective AMOS documents they are linked to.
MMEL: Even before AMOS version 9.10, the Master Minimum
Equipment List was already available in AMOS. Recurrent uploads and
TIFF graphic files can be loaded into AMOS with the AMOS MMEL
Import program and edited with the Minimum Equipment List
program. Support is provided for revision handling. The auto transfer
of the workorders based on the MEL item’s due date is possible. The
MEL is fully modifiable and can be adjusted to the customers’ needs.
TSM: Periodic uploads of new versions are feasible and for Airbus
aircraft revision management is supported. The upload of
corresponding Boeing and Embraer manuals should be available soon.
IPC: For Airbus manuals, initial and recurring data uploads and revision
management of the latest documents is available, while further
features are already under development.
FURTHER PROSPECTS
The Swiss-AS development team is currently working on a feasibility
study to create new parts (incl. whole parts’ trees) in AMOS while
using the IPC catalogue as a reliable source. This feature will
substantially simplify the parts’ creation process and reduce the
chances of mistakes by avoiding manual data input.
