1.0 PURPOSE
The purpose of the Supplemental Structural Inspection Program is to ensure continuing structural airworthiness of 737-300/-400/-500 airplanes that have a high number of flight cycles in accordance with the requirements of FAA AC 91-56A and UK CAA Airworthiness Notice No. 89. This FAA approved document provides operators with data to be used in evaluating and supplementing their existing structural inspection program.
It is important to realize that:
1. The FAA has issued an Airworthiness Directive (AD), 98-11-04 R1, requiring implementation of a Supplemental Structural Inspection Program for Model 737-100/-200 airplanes, document D6-37089. It is expected that the FAA will issue an AD requiring implementation of a Supplemental Structural Inspection Program for Model 737-300/-400/-500 airplanes subsequent to the release of this document.
