ú (2) Use one of the approved test kits to test the fuel samples.
ú (a) Follow all instructions supplied with the test kit.
ú
ú
NOTE: Some test kits will not function correctly if fuel is____
ú tested. Even traces of fuel can coat the test slide and
ú prevent the microbes from growing. Other test kits can
ú test either fuel or free water, but free water is
ú recommended.

ú S 287-106
ú (3) Use the data supplied with the test kit and analyze the level of
ú contamination.
ú
ú S 977-107
ú (4) Record the test results.
ú I. Test Results
ú
ú S 757-108
ú (1) If the test results show the presence of microbial contamination,
ú get a new fuel/water sample within 10-14 days of test results and
ú repeat the microbial detection test with the same test method.
ú
ú S 757-109
ú (2) If the retest also shows heavy microbial contamination (as defined
ú by the test kit), within 10-14 days after the test results, do these
ú steps:
ú (a) Remove the microbial growth (AMM 28-11-00/701).
ú (b) Examine the fuel tank structure for corrosion (SRM Chapter 51).
ú (c) Do a biocide treatment of the fuel tanks (AMM 28-11-00/201).
ú (d) Within 10 days, get a new fuel/water sample and do the
ú microbial detection test again.
ú
ú
NOTE: This test is necessary to make sure the microbial growth____
ú removal and biocide treatment processes have reduced the
ú level of microbial contamination to an acceptable level.
ú
ú 1) Make sure all of the biocide treated fuel has been burned
