 E. Prepare the Airplane for Fuel Tank Purging

 WARNING:_______OBEY THE PURGING AND FUEL TANK ENTRY PRECAUTIONS. FAILURE TO OBEY THE PURGING AND FUEL TANK ENTRY PRECAUTIONS CAN CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH TO PERSONS AND CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
 (1)  
Read and obey the precautions in this task: Purging and Fuel Tank Entry Precautions.

 (2)  
Do this task: Pressure Defueling (AMM 28-26-00/201).

 (3)  
Drain the fuel tank sumps (AMM 12-11-03/301).

Make sure the airplane is correctly grounded to an approved and identified ground (AMM 20-41-00/201).

 (5)  Do the deactivation procedure for the trailing edge flaps (AMM 27-51-00/201).

 WARNING: DO THE DEACTIVATION PROCEDURE OF THE LEADING EDGE SLAT
_______ (AMM 27-81-00/201). IF THE LEADING EDGE SLAT OPERATES ACCIDENTALLY, IT CAN CAUSE INJURY.

Do the deactivation procedure of the leading edge slats (AMM 27-81-00/201).

Make sure the downlocks are installed on the nose and main landing gear (AMM 32-00-20/201).

Open the doors for the landing gear and install the door locks (AMM 32-00-15/201).

Put ropes around the airplane to identify the hazardous location areas (Figure 201), and attach these signs with words you can see clearly written on both sides:

 (a)  
DANGER - OPEN FUEL TANKS - NO SMOKING

 (b)  
AUTHORIZED PERSONNEL ONLY

 Make sure the fuel pump switch lights on the overhead panel, P5, are in the off position, and attach DO-NOT-OPERATE tags.

 Open these circuit breakers on the main power distribution panel, P6, and attach DO-NOT-CLOSE tags:
