HWG Task 7 4
Task 7 HWG Co-Chairs: Tracey Johnson
Tony Poole
Date: October 25, 2001
Sub-Task 7.1 Establish a Harmonization Work Group
Concept:
This HWG should consist of, as a minimum, representatives from:
- The Air Transport Association (ATA)
- Operators
- Aircraft and component manufacturers
- Regulatory authorities
Work Plan - Task 7.1
- Establish qualification requirements
- Lobby volunteers
- Volunteers submitted to ATSRAC chairman for final approval
Deliverables: T7 HWG.

HWG Task 7 5
Status - Task 7.1 continued
October status – Member participation is a critical concern. An ATA representative was identified, and now may not be able to
support this HWG. No airline members were able to travel to the number 2 HWG meeting, and some are unsure of their availability to
continue to participate. This Tasking group does not expect to meet our draft report in final format submittal date of January 2001
unless there are improvements of the participation level.
Roadblocks: 7.1.1 Lack of participation from JAA, ATA, Component Man (ATSRAC)

Date: October 25, 2001
Sub-Task 7.2 Coordination with other ATSRAC HWGs
Concept:
In developing the report for SWPM format, the SWPM HWG must coordinate with:
- Wire System Certification HWG (addressing TASK 6)
- Enhanced Maintenance Practices for Systems HWG (addressing TASK 9)
Therefore, ATSRAC is tasked to develop a process for coordination between these working groups.
Work Plan - Task 7.2
Working Group coordinators identified for:
- Task 6 Dennis Lee, Christian Garros
- Task 8 Ross Lloyd, Scott Christian
- Task 9 Bob Barnett
-
In July, Tracey Johnson was identified as the focal for the weekly conference call.
October update: Due to time differences (USA/EUR) other co-chair participation to conference call is not practical. No replacement
is identified for the weekly conference call. Continued participation of many HWG members is in question. Without a full working
group the value of continuing with this project is in question

HWG Task 7 8
Task 7 HWG Co-Chairs: Tracey Johnson
Tony Poole
Date: October 25, 2001
Sub-Task 7.3 Description: Define a Standard Format
Concept To be accomplished after 7.4 (to be worked on concurrently with 7.4)
ATSRAC is tasked with defining a standard format for the SWPM that meets the following characteristics:
The SWPM format and organization must provide operators of different aircraft types from different
manufacturers the ability to retrieve standard wiring repair and maintenance information from the
maintenance manual or wiring diagram manual.
The information and data format must be useable and readily retrievable by field level technicians who
are performing the maintenance and repairs.
Human factor considerations must be taken into account when defining the structure of the manual, so
that the potential for human error will been minimized in interpreting wiring practices information.
