Investigation showed that the upper support of the NLG shock absorber was damaged
and the anti- rotation lugs were ruptured. This led the nose wheels to lose their
centered position reference normally ensured by the shock-absorber cams. The
BSCU had logged a steering system fault, because hydraulic power was not available
at the time of steering system checks, therefore the BSCU was not able to proceed
with the re-centering of the wheels.
To prevent reoccurrence of landings with the NLG turned 90 degrees, this AD
introduces operational procedures and maintenance actions.
This amendment changes the applicability, introduces an additional boroscopic
inspection and provides a terminating action to the AD through modifications.
The original issue of this AD became effective on 5 December 2005.

ELISA, COMPOSITE DAMAGE EVALUATION CONSOLE
Elisa is a very
attractive product
that groups
all the necessary
equipment
for conducting
damage analysis
by Ultrasonic
Methods.
The objective is to
allow the technician
to draw the
limit of a damage
(delamination or
disbonding) and
to specify the situation
of a delamination
in depth.
The Ultrasonic
Instrument itself
is appropriate for
working on composites;
it is light, not cumbersome, and offers all the sophisticated treatment capabilities of a PC Integrated
Instrument.
A complete Set of Composite Specimens representative of the composite thickness of modern planes can
be offered as part of the equipment for thickness and ply calibration.
The system is conceived so that a delamination can be detected and its position determined in terms of PLY.
The kit of thickness specimens is used to calibrate the tunings of signals ( see following chapter).

The instrument is designed to be integrated in a
portable laptop specially conceived for in the field
use.
The GMI UC 2010 is an industrial computer specially
designed to be a field instrument. It has all the characteristics
of a desktop computer, but its structure
allows a use in particularly hard environment. All its
main components (processor, board, hard disk, …)
are fixed safely and connected via cooling channels
with each other. Its structure is made of cast magnesium
and thus especially lightweight and robust.
