The low priority RECORDER DFDR
fault is now off the screen. You are
advised that the fault is there by the unstarred
RECORDER text in the right
hand column of the E/WD and the green
overflow arrow.
We will clear the AUTO FLT AP OFF
warning for you.

E/WD and the RECORDER text has been
removed from the right hand column.

The four EFIS displays provide the pilots
with Flight data to help them operate the
aircraft in a safe and efficient way.

Flight parameters are displayed on Primary
Flight Displays (PFD) while navigation data is
displayed on Navigation Displays (ND).

Each pilot has an EFIS control panel to
select what is displayed on the EFIS screens.

The EFIS control panels are divided into
two sections, one section associated with the
PFD and the other with the ND.

In the middle of the glare shield, there is a Flight Control Unit. The FCU
is one of the interface units between the pilots and the Autoflight system.
The full use of the FCU will be covered in the Autoflight modules.
There are selectors on the FCU which will affect the indications seen on
the PFD and ND, and it is only these selectors that will be discussed in the
EFIS modules.

The selectors, with associated indication, are provided for:
• Speed,
• Heading,
• Altitude.
You will see how these selectors affect the EFIS displays in the
modules that follow.

The two CHRONO pbs located on
the glare shield, control the
associated chronometer display on
the individual ND. The pbs operate
in a normal stopwatch way.

The PFD also displays other information.
The upper part of the display is used to
provide information to the pilots associated
with the Flight Management and Guidance
System (FMGS).
The area is known as the Flight Mode
Annunciator (FMA). You will learn more
about the FMA in the Autoflight modules.

A Flight Director pb on the EFIS control
panel enables the pilots to switch the Flight
Director display on.
Notice that there is an indication on the
FMA when the Flight Directors are switched
on.
