TESTING AND TROUBLE SHOOTING
1. GENERAL
A. Structural or attaching hardware has not been covered in the fault isolation procedure. These items have no operational characteristics to check, thus a visual inspection for looseness, broken, cracked or damaged parts will indicate the cause of the trouble and the corrective action to be taken. Faults in the seat assy can be located by using the table 1002 and appropriated to a subassembly or to an individual part.
B. Table 1001 gives the recommended test equipment and materials.
C. For testing and trouble shooting of the seat actuation system (actuators, valve block, software, PCU and/or handset, pneumatic system) a special M.TOOL is recommended, refer to section Special tools, Fixtures and Equipment.
D. Refer to the manufacturer manual for the test procedures and the software required.

TEST EQUIPMENT AND MATERIALS TABLE 1001
A. Electrical Tests of Shell Assemblies
(1)
Continuity Test
(a) Use a digital multimeter (Table 1001) to make sure point.to.point continuity of all electrical circuits. Make sure that you do the electrical connections to agree with the Wiring Diagram. Refer to Figure 2001.
(2)
Insulation Resistance Test
(a)
The resistance of the insulation between all phase of power lines and Seat Shell ground lines and the interface neutral point and Seat Shell ground lines must be measured after the dielectric test to make certain that no observed insulation damage or insulation breakdown occurred and to make sure that the insulation resistance shall not be less than 200 M. The test voltage shall be 500 VDC for one minute.
(b)
Components and parts which are subject to possible damage from test voltages, e.g., capacitors, diodes, transistors, ballasts and light bulbs must be electrically isolated before performing insulation resistance test. Test measurements must be conducted between each phase or power line and Seat Shell structure.
(3)
Dielectric Test
WARNING: WARNING: THE USE OF HIGH VOLTAGE PRESENTS A POTENTIAL SHOCK HAZARD THAT CAN RESULT IN DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT AND LOSS OF LIFE. ONLY QUALIFIED PERSONNEL SHOULD OPERATE THIS EQUIPMENT.
(a)
High potential test voltage of 1050 Volts AC at 60 Hz must be applied between mutually insulated parts. The test voltage must be raised at a uniform rate of 250 to 500 Volts per second and maintained at 1050 VAC for a period of one minute. When the equipment consists of more than one circuit, which must be tested, each application of the specified test voltage shall be for a period of one minute.
