NOTE:  Manufacturer furnishes surface preparation and application instructions, CMC Specification PS-1, PS-2, PS-3, and PS-5 with purchase of Epoxy Repair Compound.

(10)
Mask areas not requiring repair before applying Epoxy Repair Compound.

(11)
Prepare surfaces to be repaired per CMC Specification PS-l and apply Epoxy Repair Compound (SECTION VII) by spray, brush, or blade application per CMC Specification PS-2 or PS-3 to fill gouges, scoring, or buildup surfaces as required to maintain dimensions listed in applicable Overhaul Manual.

CAUTION: DO NOT EXCEED TEMPERATURE LIMITATIONS DURING CURE PERIOD.

(12)
Allow compound to air-dry for 24 hours, then cure in an oven per CMC Specification PS-5.

(13)
Remove from oven and allow to cool.

(14)
Allow compound (EA9352) to warm to room temperature or heat to a maximum temperature of 110F (43C) prior to application.  Discard excess compound, which has been heated for purpose of thinning.

NOTE:  Keep compound (EA9352) refrigerated at 40F (5C) or cooler to extend the shelf life. Discard if compound exceeds shelf life (six (6) months) or becomes to thick to apply without crumbling.
Uncured compound (EA9352) can be cleaned from work area and application equipment using denatered alcohol.

(15)
Apply compound (EA9352) using spatula.  Minimize the trapping of air.  Allow a minimum of 0.030 inch (0,762 mm) in excess coating on surfaces to be machined.

WARNING: USE CORRECT PERSONAL PROTECTION.  HEATED PARTS WILL CAUSE BURNS.

(16)
Cure compound in an oven for one hour at 350F (177C).

WARNING: USE CORRECT PERSONAL PROTECTION.  PROCEDURES THAT NEED GRIND/MACHINE WORK WILL CAUSE LOOSE PARTICLES THAT CAN GET IN YOUR EYES.

(17)
Machine coated surfaces to limits specified in applicable manual.

(18)
Examine machined part as follows:

(a)
Only porosity's or voids with major dimensions grater than 0.015 inch (0,381 mm) shall be considered as relevant. Porosity's of voids less than 0.015 inch (0,381 mm) shall not be considered during evaluation.

(b)
Porosity or voids up to a maximum diameter of 0.080 inch (2,032 mm) is acceptable. Two 0.080 inch (2,032 mm) porosity's or voids or any number of smaller porosity's or voids with a combined area no greater than two 0.080 inch (2,032 mm) within a 0.50 by 0.50 inch (12,7 X 12,7 mm) area is acceptable.

(c)
No porosity, voids or chipping down to parent metal permitted.

(19)
Clean and degrease coated area if porosity or void exceeds check requirements.

(20)
Fill porosity or voids with compound (EA9352) being careful not to trap air.   Overfill porosity or voids to allow for finish machine.

(21)
Cure compound in an oven for one hour at 350F (177C).

WARNING: USE CORRECT PERSONAL PROTECTION.  PROCEDURES THAT NEED GRIND/MACHINE WORK WILL CAUSE LOOSE PARTICLES THAT CAN GET IN YOUR EYES.

(22)
Machine coated surfaces to limits specified in applicable manual.

5.  Repairing Steel Parts
