(c)
Mask all areas of part not to be vapor blasted.
(d)
Vapor blast machined surfaces using aluminum oxide grit (Metcolite F) (SECTION VII).
(e)
Remove masking tape and rinse part in clean water to remove blasting material. Air-dry part and remask all areas not to be metal sprayed.
CAUTION: IF SURFACES ARE NOT TO BE METAL SPRAYED IMMEDIATELY, BLASTED SURFACES MUST BE PROTECTED FROM CONTAMINATION UNTIL COATING IS APPLIED.
(f)
Apply metal spray bond (as specified in applicable manual) to surfaces, of sufficient thickness to permit grinding to specified limits, using a spray gun (Metco Type K, 2P or 5P) (SECTION VII). Apply in accordance with spray gun manufacturer’s recommendations.
NOTE: Part shall be preheated, as specified in applicable manual immediately prior to application of metal spray bond.

WARNING: USE CORRECT PERSONAL PROTECTION. PROCEDURES THAT NEED GRIND/MACHINE WORK WILL CAUSE LOOSE PARTICLES THAT CAN GET IN YOUR EYES.
(g) Grind surfaces to dimensions specified in applicable manual.
NOTE: Allow part to cool, as specified in applicable manual, prior to grinding. Use the plunge grind technique on seal surfaces.
CAUTION: DO NOT ALLOW TITANIUM PARTS TO CONTACT CHLORINATED SOLVENTS.
(h) Remove masking tape and clean part by vapor degreasing (SECTION II) or using solvent (Federal Specification P-D-680, Type I) (SECTION VII).
(2) Repair worn or damaged surfaces (other than seal surfaces).
WARNING: USE CORRECT PERSONAL PROTECTION. PROCEDURES THAT NEED GRIND/MACHINE WORK WILL CAUSE LOOSE PARTICLES THAT CAN GET IN YOUR EYES.
(a)
Machine surfaces just enough to remove existing metal spray or sufficiently to provide
0.002 to 0.010 inch (0,0508 to 0,254 mm) thickness of metal spray after final machining unless otherwise specified.
(b)
Perform fluorescent penetrant or magnetic particle inspection as applicable. Refer to SECTION III.
(c)
Degrease part in accordance with SECTION II.
CAUTION: EXERCISE CARE IN MASKING AND SEALING OF PARTS TO ENSURE ALL AIR/OIL PORTS, STRUCTURAL OPENINGS, AND RELATED SURFACES OF PARTS ARE PROTECTED FROM OVERSPRAY.
(d)
Mask all areas of part not to be vapor blasted.
(e)
Vapor blast machined surfaces using aluminum oxide grit (Metcolite F)
(SECTION VII).
CAUTION: DO NOT USE SHOP COMPRESSED AIR TO REMOVE RESIDUE. DO NOT TOUCH PREPARED AREAS WITH BARE HANDS. USE CLEAN COTTON GLOVES IF HANDLING IS NECESSARY.
(f)
Remove blast residue, using clean paper towels. Remove masking tape and remask part if necessary.
(g)
Apply metal spray to prepared surfaces in accordance with applicable manual and manufacturer’s specification. Remove masking tape.
