 (2)  Do these steps to clean the exciter-to-igniter plug cable (Fig. 701):
 (a)  Remove all the dirt and unwanted material from the inner spring with the compressed air.
 WARNING: DO NOT GET TRICHLOROETHANE IN YOUR MOUTH OR EYES, OR ON
_______ YOUR SKIN. DO NOT BREATHE THE FUMES FROM TRICHLOROETHANE. PUT A PROTECTIVE SPLASH GOGGLE AND GLOVES ON WHEN YOU USE TRICHLOROETHANE. KEEP TRICHLOROETHANE AWAY FROM SPARKS, FLAME, AND HEAT. TRICHLOROETHANE IS A POISONOUS AND FLAMMABLE SOLVENT WHICH CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
 (b)  
Make the cotton cloth wet with the solvent. 1) Rub the cloth on the high tension sleeve to clean it. 2) Use the compressed air to dry the surface.

 (c)  
Make the cotton cloth wet with the solvent.
 1) Rub the cloth on the conduit to clean it.
 2) Use the compressed air to dry the surface.


 (d)  
Use the abrasive rod in a circular hand movement to remove the small quantities of arc damage from the contact button.

 (e)  
Make the cotton cloth wet with the solvent. 1) Rub the cloth on the high tension contact to clean it. 2) Use the compressed air to dry the surface.

 (3)  Install the exciter-to-igniter plug cable (AMM 74-21-01/401).

IGNITER PLUG - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

 1.  General
_______
 A.  This procedure gives the instructions to remove and install the igniter plug(s) and the igniter plug boss and its classified spacers.
 B.  There are two identical igniter plugs installed on the diffuser/combustor case at the 4 o'clock (ignition system 1) and 5 o'clock (ignition system 2) positions. This procedure applies to the two igniter plugs.
 C.  Access to the igniter plug is through the right half of the thrust reverser. It is necessary to remove the exciter-to-igniter plug cable to remove or install the igniter plug. This is necessary for access to the igniter plug and to prevent damage to the ends of the cable.
