IGNITION EXCITER - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. General
_______
A. This procedure includes the tasks to remove and install the ignition exciter. The instructions apply to the upper and the lower ignition exciters.
B. There are two ignition exciters attached to a bracket on the top right side of the main gearbox. The upper ignition exciter (M7196) is for ignition system 1 and the lower ignition exciter (M7197) is for ignition system 2.
C. The access to the ignition exciter is through the right half of the thrust reverser. It is necessary to remove the exciter-to-igniter plug cable (cable) to remove or install the ignition exciter. The removal of the cable is necessary to get access to the ignition exciter and prevent damage to the ends of the cable.
