E. Procedure

(1) Install the ignition exciter M7196 and M7197 (2) on the engine.
(a)
Remove the cap from the ignition exciter (2).
(b)
Install the seal (7) [with the larger diameter of the seal pointed away from the ignition exciter (2)] on the electrical connection of the ignition exciter.
(c)
Put the ignition exciter (2) between the forward and aft heat shields (3 and 8). 1) Align the mounting holes.
(d)
Install the ignition exciter M7196 and M7197 (2) and the heat shields (3 and 8) on the mounting bracket. 1) Lubricate the bolt threads (4) with engine oil. 2) Hold the ignition exciter (2) and heat shields (3 and 8)
with bolts (4), washers (5), and nuts (6). 3) Tighten the bolts to 36-40 pound-inches (4.1-4.5 newton-meters).

Connect the applicable electrical connector for low voltage input (9 or 10) (DM7196 or DM7197) to the ignition exciter (2). 1) Remove the cap from the electrical connector (9 or 10). 2) For the upper ignition exciter (2), connect DM7196 (9) to
the connection on the ignition exciter. 3) For the lower ignition exciter (2), connect DM7197 (10) to the connection on the ignition exciter. 4) To hold the electrical connections, put the key to the slot. 5) Turn the coupling ring with your hand until the coupling ring is tight.
(f)
Install the exciter-to-igniter plug cables (AMM 74-21-01/401).

(2) Do an ignition operational (audible) test (AMM 74-00-00/501).

1. General
_______
A. This procedure gives the task to do a visual inspection of the ignition exciter. The procedure is for the upper and the lower ignition exciters.
B. The ignition exciter must be removed from the engine before you do the inspection.
