(1) Remove the ignition exciter M7196 and M7197 (2) from the engine.
(a) Remove the exciter-to-igniter plug cable (1) for the applicable ignition exciter (AMM 74-21-01/401).

(b)
Disconnect the electrical connector (9 or 10) for low voltage input from the ignition exciter (2) which you will remove. 1) Disconnect the electrical connector DM7196 (9) from the
upper ignition exciter (2). 2) Disconnect the electrical connector DM7197 (10) for the lower ignition exciter (2). 3) Install a cap on the disconnected electrical connector (9 or 10).
(c)
Remove the three bolts (4), washers (5), and nuts (6) that hold the ignition exciter (2) and heat shields (3 and 8) on the mounting bracket.
(d)
Remove the ignition exciter M7196 (2) and the heat shields (3 and 8) from the engine.
(e)
Remove the ignition exciter M7197 (2) from the heat shields (3 and 8).
(f)
Remove the seal (7) from the electrical connection on the ignition exciter (2). 1) Discard the seal (7).
(g)
Put a cap on the ignition exciter (2) connections.
