 (2)  Do these steps to clean the ignition exciter (Fig. 701):
 (a)  Remove all the dirt and unwanted material from the inner contact hole with the compressed air.
 WARNING: DO NOT GET THE SOLVENT IN YOUR MOUTH, OR EYES, OR ON YOUR
_______ SKIN. DO NOT BREATHE THE FUMES FROM THE SOLVENT. PUT A PROTECTIVE SPLASH GOGGLE AND GLOVES ON WHEN YOU USE THE SOLVENT. THE SOLVENT IS A POISONOUS AND FLAMMABLE SOLVENT THAT CAN CAUSE INJURIES TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
 (b)  
Make the long bristle brush wet with the solvent. 1) Clean the contact hole with the brush and solvent. 2) Use the compressed air to dry the surface.

 (c)  
Use the abrasive rod in a circular hand movement to remove the small quantities of arc damage from the contact button. 1) Clean the contact hole again.

 (d)  
Make the circular felt bob wet with the solvent. 1) Use the circular felt bob in a circular movement to clean

 the inner ceramic walls. 2) Use the compressed air to dry the surface.

 (e)  
Make the short bristle brush wet with the solvent. 1) Use the brush and solvent to clean the ceramic sleeve


 adjacent to the grommet face. 2) Use the compressed air to dry the surface.

 (3)  Install the ignition exciter (AMM 74-11-01/401).

EXCITER-TO-IGNITER PLUG CABLE - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

 1.  General
_______
 A.  These tasks give the steps to remove and install the exciter-to-igniter plug cable (referred to as the cable in this procedure). The tasks apply to the upper and the lower cables.
 B.  The cables connect the ignition exciters to the igniter plugs. The ignition exciters are attached to a bracket on the main gearbox at the 4 o'clock position. The igniter plugs are installed in the diffuser/combustor case. The upper cable is for the ignition system No. 1; the lower cable is for the ignition system No. 2.
 C.  Access to the cables is through the thrust reverser half on the right side.
