4) Make sure that the ON below GPS UPDATE is highlighted on the NAV OPTIONS 2/2 page.
5) If the OFF below GPS UPDATE is highlighted, push the adjacent LSK.
6) Make sure that the display changes so that the ON below GPS UPDATE is highlighted.
7) Push the NEXT PAGE key on the CDU.
8) Push the LSK adjacent to POS SHIFT>.
9) Push the PREV PAGE key on the CDU.
10) Make sure that the POS REF 2/3 page shows the position of GPS L and GPS R.

GLOBAL POSITIONING SYSTEM - TROUBLE SHOOTING

1. General
_______
A. This procedure uses the GPS system test to do a check for failures in the GPS Left or GPS Right.
B. If this procedure does not correct the problem, use the wiring diagram as a reference to do a check of the airplane wiring.
2. Prepare for Trouble Shooting

A. Do the GPS system test (AMM 34-58-00/501).
NOTE: If the GPS positions are not shown on the POS REF 2/3 page, look
____ at the NAV OPTIONS 2/2 page. If the ON under GPS UPDATE is highlighted, it is possible that too few satellites are in view.
As much as 20 minutes of time can be necessary for the GPS positions to show on the POS REF 2/3 page.
B. If one of the GPS positions is not shown, do these steps for that system:
NOTE: After each replacement, see if the position for that system

appears on the POS REF 2/3 page.
(1)
Replace the flight management computer (AMM 34-62-21/401).
(2)
Replace the GPSSU (AMM 34-58-11/401).
(3)
Do a check of the wiring between the GPSSU and the FMC (WDM 34-58-12 or 34-58-22).
(4)
Replace the coaxial cable (WDM 34-58-11 or 34-58-21).
(5)
Replace the GPS antenna (AMM 34-58-21/401).

GLOBAL POSITIONING SYSTEM - ADJUSTMENT/TEST

1. General

A. This procedure has two tasks.
(1) This first task is an operational test of the Global Positioning System (GPS). The second task is a system test of the GPS.
NOTE: The airplane must be moved to a position where the GPS
____ antennas have a clear view of the GPS satellites.
