General

 A.  The tree-type format makes the use of the self-test features of the interrogator unit. It gives a quick procedure to isolate the faults without the use of additional test equipment.
 B.  The procedure is written for one DME system. When two systems are installed, interchange the components to do the trouble shooting.
 C.  If the problem continues, use the wiring diagram as a reference to
 examine the airplane wiring.References

 A.  Prepare for Trouble Shooting DME Systems No. 1 and 2
 (1) Supply electrical power (AMM 24-22-00/201).
 CAUTION: MAKE SURE THE EQUIPMENT COOLING IS OPERATIONAL BEFORE YOU TURN
_______ ON THE ELECTRONIC SYSTEM OR DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT MAY RESULT. EQUIPMENT COOLING SYSTEM MUST BE SET FOR NORMAL COOLING AS DESCRIBED IN AMM 21-58-00/501.
 (2)
Supply equipment cooling (AMM 21-58-00/501).

 (3)
Make sure these circuit breakers on the P6 and P18 panel are closed:


 (a) Make sure these circuit breakers on the P6-1 Panel are closed:

 (d)  Make sure these circuit breakers on the P18-2 Panel are closed:
 INSTR XFMR-1 INSTR XFR CAPT RDDMI  DAA FMC NO. 1DAA NO. 1 FMC ACDAA NO. 1 IRS AC DAA NO. 1 DC IRS' NO. 1 AC IRS' NO. 1 DC EFIS SYM GEN L EFIS CONT PANEL L EHSI
 (4) (5) (6) (7)  Set the EFI, VHF NAV and the IRS switches to the NORMAL position.On the EFIS control panel, set the EHSI mode selector switch to the FULL VOR/ILS position.Turn on the electronic flight instrument system (Ref 34-22-00) and inertial reference systems (Ref 34-28-01).Make sure each IRS is aligned and in the NAV mode of operation (Ref 34-28-01).
