CAUTION: NEVER PLACE REMOTE TEST SET ANTENNA CLOSER THAN 15 INCHES TO
_______ AIRPLANE ANTENNA WITH TEST SET ON OR DAMAGE TO TEST SET WILL RESULT.

Put the remote test set antenna approximately 21 inches from DME antenna for system under test.

Test set antenna should be approximately same height as airplane antenna.

Route and connect coax from remote test set antenna to test set which should be located in cockpit.

(3) Place test set X/Y switch to Y and using SLEW switches simulate a
distance of 6 miles as read on test set display.
(a) Both RDDMI DME readouts display dashes.
(b) Both EHSI's display DME--- in upper left-hand corner.

(4) Place test set X/Y switch to X and SQTR/OFF (squitter) switch to
SQTR.
(a) Both RDDMI DME readouts display 6 |0.5 miles.
(b) Captains' EHSI displays DME 6 |0.5 miles.

(6) On audio selector panel, select NAV-1 and place V/B/R switch to B

presence of DME audio.

NOTE: DME will break lock-on if IDENT is held for longer than 12____
seconds.

Set test set X/Y switch to Y. DME-1 should unlock within 15 seconds and both RDDMI DME-1 readouts should display dashes. Captain's EHSI should display DME---.
