E. Select the ADF-1 on the audio selector panel for the flight interphone system.
F. Select the ADF-2 on the audio selector panel for the flight interphone system.
G. Set the VOR/ADF switch on the RDDMIs to the ADF position for ADF-1.
H. Set the VOR/ADF switch on the RDDMIs to the ADF position for ADF-2.
I. Set the ADF-1 mode switch to the ANT position.
J. Set the ADF-2 mode switch to the ANT position.

AUTOMATIC DIRECTION FINDER SYSTEM - ADJUSTMENT/TEST

1. General_______
A. This procedure is a system test of the Automatic Direction Finder (ADF) System.

2. Automatic Direction Finder System - System Test_______________________________________________
A. General
(1) This procedure does a test of all the units in the ADF system. It is necessary to have operational standard broadcast and low frequency transmitting stations in the area. Bearing checks made in an airplane hangar are not satisfactory.

Supply electrical power (AMM 24-22-00/201).

Make sure these circuit breakers are closed:
Panel P18_________ Panel P6
ADF-1 ADF-2 INST XFMR-1 INST XFMR-2

Make sure the captain's and first officer's 5 volt ac circuit breakers located on the P41 and P42 panels are closed.
(4)
Make sure the Flight Interphone System is on (AMM 23-51-00/501).
(5)
Select the ADF-1 system on the audio selector panel.

Set the VOR/ADF switches on the RDDMIs to the ADF position.

Do these steps on the ADF control panels:
(a)
Set the mode switches to the OFF position.
(b)
Set the TONE switches to the OFF position.
(c)
Turn the GAIN controls to the fully clockwise position.
(d)
Set the TFR switch to the left position.
E. ADF Control Panel Test

(1) Do these steps to do a test of the ADF control panel:
(a)
Set the mode switch to the ANT position.
1) Make sure the warning flag for the narrow pointer on each RDDMI is out of view.
(b)
Set the mode switch to each of these positions: ANT, ADF and TEST. 1) Make sure the panel and indicator lights are on for each
position.
(c)
Set the TFR switch to the right position. 1) Make sure the right frequency indicator light is brighter
than the left frequency indicator light. 2) Make sure the right transfer light is on.
(d)
Set the TFR switch to the left position. 1) Make sure the left frequency indicator light is brighter
than the right frequency indicator light. 2) Make sure the left transfer light is on.
