 A.  General
 (1)  This procedure does a test of all the units in the ADF system. It is necessary to have operational standard broadcast and low frequency transmitting stations in the area. Bearing checks made in an airplane hanger are not satisfactory.

Supply electrical power (AMM 24-22-00/201).

Make sure these circuit breakers are closed:

 Panel P18_________  Panel P6
 ADF-1 DC ADF-2 DC ADF-1 AC ADF-2 AC

 (3)  
Make sure the captain's and first officer's 5 volt ac circuit breaker located on the P41 and P42 panels are closed.

 (4)
Make sure the Flight Interphone System is on (AMM 23-51-00/501).

Select the ADF systems on the audio selector panels.

Set the VOR/ADF switches on the RDDMIs to the ADF position.

Do these steps on the ADF control panel:

 (a)  
Set the mode switches to the OFF position.

 (b)  
Set the TONE switch to the off position.

 (c)  
Turn the GAIN controls to the fully clockwise position.

Set the two IRS mode selectors to the ATT position.

Wait for the ALIGN light to go off (approximately 30 seconds).

 On the IRS ISDU, set the DSPL switch to the HDG/STS position, press the H key, and enter a heading of 000 degrees.

 On the two EFIS control panels, set the HSI mode selector switch to the CTR MAP or MAP position and set the VOR/ADF switch to the ON position.

 (a)  Make sure the VOR/ADF switches are illuminated.

 (1)  Do these steps to do a test of the ADF control panel:
 (a)  
Set the mode switch to the ANT position.

 1)  Make sure the warning flag for the narrow pointer on each RDDMI is out of view.

 (b)  
Set the mode switch to each of these positions: ANT, ADF, and TEST. 1) Make sure the panel and indicator lights are on for each

 position.

 F.  ADF Bearing and Audio Test
 S 715-218
 (1)  Do these steps to do a test of the ADF-1 bearing and audio.
 (a)  
Set the mode switch on the ADF control panel to the TEST position. 1) Make sure the narrow pointer on each RDDMI and EHSI show

 315 |5 degrees relative bearing (45 degrees left of lubber line) and a loud and clear audio tone (1020 Hz) is heard over the interphone.

 (b)  
Set the V-B-R filter switch on the audio selector panel to the R (range) or B (both) position. 1) Make sure the audio tone (1020 Hz) is loud and clear over

 the interphone.

 (c)  
Set the mode switch to the ANT position.

 (d)  
Set the TONE switch to the 1 position.
