Tune the ADF to a known station, from below frequency, while you listen for a 1020 Hz tone on the interphone. 1) Make sure the tuned frequency is within 1.0 kHz of listed

 frequency and audio tone is loud and clear.

 (f)  
Turn the GAIN control from maximum to minimum (counterclockwise).

 (g)  
Make sure there is a smooth change in the audio output level as you turn the control.

 (h)  
Make sure the audio output is available at each audio selector panel.

 (i)  
Set the TONE switch to the off position.

 (j)  
Set the mode switch to the ADF position.

 (k)  
Make sure the narrow pointer on each RDDMI and EHSI shows the correct bearing for the station.

 (l)  
Detune the ADF receiver.

 1)  Make sure the warning flag for the narrow pointer on each RDDMI is out of view and there is no audio noise.

 (m)  
Set two other known stations in the 190 to 1750 kHz range as widely spaced as possible. 1) Make sure the tuned frequency is within 1.0 kHz of listed


 frequency.

 2)  Make sure the narrow pointer of each RDDMI and EHSI shows the correct bearing and the audio reception is loud and clear.
 (n)  Detune the ADF receiver.
 1)  Make sure the warning flag for the narrow pointer on each RDDMI is out of view and there is no audio noise.

 (2)  Do the ADF Bearing and Audio Test again with the ADF-2 mode switch, the RDDMI and EHSI wide pointers, and the TONE switch in the 2 position.
 G.  ADF Receiver Self-Test

 (1)  Do these steps to do a self-test of the ADF receiver:
 (a)
Push and hold the test switch on each ADF receiver.

 1)  Make sure each test indicator moves to the TEST line (about 45 degrees).

 (b)  
Release the test switch on each ADF receiver.


 H.  Put the airplane back to its usual condition.

 ADF LOOP ANTENNA AND QUADRANTAL ERROR CORRECTOR - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

 1.  General
_______
 A.  This subject has two tasks. One is for the removal of the ADF loop antenna and the quadrantal error corrector and one is for the installation of the loop antenna and the quadrantal error corrector. These tasks also do a test of the ADF system.
 B.  The fixed loop antenna is flush-installed from the outside in an antenna cavity on the bottom center of the fuselage. The antennas are located at stations 560 and 600.

 2.  ADF Loop Antenna and Quadrantal Error Corrector Removal (Fig. 401)

 NOTE: The quadrantal error corrector is installed on the loop antenna by the
____ coaxial connector. The loop antenna must be removed to replace the quadrantal error corrector.
 A.  Access
 (1)  Location Zone
 215 Bottom Center Fuselage - Exterior

 B.  Procedure

 (1)  Open these circuit breakers and attach DO-NOT-CLOSE tags:
 (a)  
P18 Circuit Breaker Panel
 1) AIRPLANES WITHOUT EFIS;
 ADF-1 AC or INST XFMR-1
 2) AIRPLANES WITH EFIS;


 ADF-1 or EXCIT XFMR-1
 3) ADF-1 DC


 (b)  
P6 Circuit Breaker Panel
